Positive: It's a traditional Japanese home, with futons and a great choice of records. On top of that, there is a piano. A little untuned, but otherwise alright. This was my first time sleeping on a futon, but it was really comfy. The entire house was really near and clean, and had a very retro appearance which made it feel lived in. The location is perfect, close to Odawara Station and a convenience store is just around the corner.

Positive: This is a traditional Japanese house near the train station. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking, with one hot plate and enough pots, pans, dishes etc. There are two toilets, which was nice!

Negative: The owner will charge you for every 30 minutes past a check out time of 10am. It’s listed at 1,000 yen on all property documents but the owner said she would charge me 3,000 yen per 30 mins. I asked her to honor the printed price, but she did not agree, which left me with a negative feeling. There is one shower that does not match the quality of the rest of the house. There is a washing machine that did not function well, leaving our clothes with a mildew smell which was unfortunate. There is a piano but it is out of tune.

Positive: Convenient near Odawara station for shinkansen and going sightseeing in Hakone area. Nice instructions for finding the place and checking in. Warm welcome with tea and snacks. Spacious and anything you need is present (hairdryer, freezer, coffeemachine, cooking supplies, clothes rack, extra bedding and more). There are lots of restaurants in the neighbourhood and station area

Negative: Don't go here if you don't like old houses where not everything is spic and span or outdated. Also be aware that although big groups can stay here, there is no real seperation of rooms, just a room divider in the form of a sliding door. The check-in procedure with filling in forms and providing passport copies is a bit tedious, could be made more lean and customer friendly (requesting double information or not mandatory information).

Positive: The house is spacious for 5 person, it is 2 storey house and equipped with various utilities. The location is good and near to train station, there is a convenient store Lawson right beside the house. We were there during winter and the heater works very well.

Negative: The house is a bit of old, but we don't really mind cause it doesn't affect anything on our stay :) It is quite hard to find the front door of the house, if follow Google map it will bring you to the back door, the owner sticked the map at the back door and you just have to follow the instruction to reach to front door.

Positive: It was different from a hotel room. It added a less modern break to our adventure. If we had a few extra days we would have spent more time here relaxing and enjoying the house and immediate surrounds.

Negative: Not being very adept replying to the booking system I found the check-in process a little frustrating...but that's my issue not yours.

Positive: Beautiful house, near to the train station. Great size for a family of 5 with a fully equipped kitchen too. Loved the record collection and sound system as well. The host was great with communication and making sure we were looked after.
