Positive: We loved it all - spacious, clean, cosy, well resourced, comfortable, the list goes on! Excellent communication from the owners, Amanda and Phil. The log burner had been prepared so that when we arrived late evening, it was a breeze to get a roaring fire going. There was a fabulous welcome box with fresh eggs, bread, fruit, homemade preserves (the lemon curd was amaaaazing!) and a pint of milk. The cupboards had a huge variety of pots, pans, cutlery, utensils and crockery, as well as condiments, seasonings and essentials such as tea/coffee/sugar...and cocoa too! There were also a variety of cleaning products in the utility room, as well as cloths, sponges and washing up liquid in the kitchen. The bedroom (which was downstairs leading directly to the enclosed garden) was lovely, with large, comfortable bed and ensuite with sink and loo as well....and a charger for electric toothbrushes! The main bathroom upstairs was huge - shower was great - and there were towels, flannels and toiletries in both rooms. Board games and books were available to use in The Stables, and there was a separate gym above the garage, with also dartboard and massage table (we didn't use this area). Parking just outside the property was easy, and this area also had spare firewood for the log burner if you ran out. The Stables is ideal for a relaxing stay - we were there on a rainy, chilly November weekend and had the best time, so imagine that it would be perhaps even better in the spring and summer months. It is also a dog-friendly property - after soggy walks in the Peak District, we put the dog beds in the area by the front door to allow them to rest and dry out! Highly, highly recommended...we will definitely visit again the next time we are in the area! (The photos we took do not even begin to capture how lovely the place was...).

Positive: Super cosy, clean cottage with high quality fixtures & fittings. The fenced off garden was perfect for keeping our dog from bothering the chickens & geese whilst still being able to enjoy the outdoors.

Negative: The electric car charger was an absolute bonus in such a remote area, however, be prepared to pay Tesla super charge prices.

Positive: The Stables is lovely. The interior is tasteful and the kitchen table is set up with a welcome hamper on arrival. We chose this property also for its location and big garden. Phil and Amanda even made a dog enclosure (little garden) off the back of The Stables so our Jack Russell wouldn’t bother the chickens, geese and ducks. We enjoyed our evenings sitting outside watching all the birds knowing our dogs were in our little garden.

Negative: Everything was great. Phil and Amanda’s house is next door so if you have any questions, they are happy to help.

Summary: The Stables is a lovely dog friendly cottage with lots of walking and cycling nearby.

Positive: Beautiful accommodation in beautiful surroundings. Spotless. A welcome hamper on arrival too. The hosts Phill and Amanda couldn't do enough for you. You want for nothing. We loved the chickens and geese wandering around the property,it made it feel more countrified,if that was possible.We definitely recommend this place for its location,peace and quiet.

Positive: A delightful 4-night stay (too short!) at this very comfortable and superbly-equipped holiday home, converted from stables on the property of Phil and Amanda, who gave us a very warm welcome, together with a generous "welcome hamper". The rural location meant much-needed peace and quiet, although within easy reach of the nearby village of Ashover, plus Matlock and Bakewell a bit further afield, and the very comfortable bed gave us four restful nights! Enjoyed some excellent meals at the nearby "Kelstedge" pub, and the "George" in Clay Cross.

Negative: Only the weather could have been better , but we found plenty to do, in between the showers. .

Summary: Peaceful, comfortable and superbly-equipped.
