Summary: With the kids at summer camp, we were looking for a quiet peace to unwind, read, study, rest and relax. Monica and Joe's gorgeous home in the Catskills was exactly what we sought and found. The porch is LOVELY offering morning and afternoon breezes. Our two small dogs loved playing fetch in the yards on either side of the house. We enjoyed that we could tire them out by tossing the balls out and forcing them to run up and down some hills to get the balls back to us. The dogs never wanted to be indoors - they absolutely loved running around and exploring. The house was comfortable, fully stocked and it's clear that lots of love and pride went into restoring every feature. The appliances are amazing and high end. Everything was explained well in the welcome manual. We loved looking at the photos of the restoration work and the photos of the original families and the area. Don't miss a good glance through the upstairs library! There are some amazing books to read and enjoy - what a treat! Monica and Joe are attentive but never obtrusive. They were available and accommodating when we needed them and left us plenty of space to relax and feel completely at home. We loved meeting Duke when he wandered down for his occasional morning treat - so kind and gentle! If you are considering this property, do not hesitate! We're looking forward to a return visit - may be during the Fall to enjoy the colors.

Summary: We had a wonderful time staying at the Solitude Inn for New Years weekend. Joe and Monica were wonderful hosts, they checked us in upon arrival and walked us through the house. The house is beautifully decorated and very comfortable to stay in. We enjoyed the walking trail right on the property and even got to see a bit of snow. We are hoping to come back in the Summer and revisit. Thanks for a wonderful New Years!

Summary: This was the most perfect find ever. The house was absolutely beautiful. The owners clearly painstakingly thought out every possible need a guest may have, and made sure it was provided. The home is beautifully decorated, comfortable and squeaky clean. The views are breathtaking. The owners are awesome and have mastered the delicate balance of making themselves available yet giving guests their privacy. I do not cry at weddings or funerals but nearly did when it was time to leave this gem. PERFECT!!!

Summary: This home is gorgeous and the location was just what we needed--secluded and quiet, but with several small villages and quaint restaurants within 15 miles in either direction when we wanted to venture into civilization. Monica and Joe take pride in their home and property and we could not want for anything during our stay. We only wish we had one more day to enjoy the canoes that they provided. Our schedule of events in Bainbridge only 30 minutes away would not allow us any time on the reservoir, but it sure was beautiful to drive past. Our children loved the layout of the house just as much as we did and kept exclaiming how much they wanted to live there. The beds were very comfortable and the upstairs foyer and outdoor balcony area were my favorite areas to hang out with some coffee and wine. There was an eclectic collection of books that I was quite jealous of and can only hope to expand upon my own collection after studying the book case. All of the amenities and high end appliances worked perfectly! The furniture was beautiful and no small detail was overlooked. There were plenty of dishes, utensils, every sort of wine glass, and an abundance of linens. The small little touches of extra supplies in the kitchen and laundry area were life savers when I forgot to bring spices for cooking and detergent for washing clothes. We found everything simple and easy to use as well. We will miss Duke, the owners' dog, who came to visit from up the road (no worries...there's no vehicle traffic on this private road) a few times while we were outside. He enjoyed resting on the porch and my boys gave him plenty of hugs and a few treats (on the counter next to the human treats also provided by Monica and Joe). My husband enjoyed learning about the area and talking to Joe about the renovations that they completed to make this home what it is today. We found the binder of pictures and details about each step of the process very informative. We will be talking about this home and our experiences for years to come! Thank you Monica and Joe for loving your home and sharing it with us!

Summary: Just returned from three day stay at The Solitude Inn. We couldn't have been happier with our choice to stay here. We've rented a house upstate every Columbus Day Weekend for years and this one definitely tops the list. Some of the little things that Monica and Joe provide along with the charm of the house make it feel like your staying in a upscale B&B. We highly recommended staying here.
