Positive: We had a really lovely stay at The Smithy Cottage. The owners were extremely friendly (we even got to meet the horses!), and the welcome of jam and cream scones was a gorgeous touch. The front room with the fire was beautiful and cosy, the kitchen was modern and well laid out, and the back garden was lovely with peaceful neighbours all around. The bathroom was also a highlight — beautifully done, with very hot water and a great bath.

Negative: A few practical things let the place down. The dishwasher was empty of salt and rinse aid (even after we topped it up), and we were left with only one extra bin bag, so we had to buy more. The BBQ was not up to standard — very small, with a fixed, non-adjustable shelf. The oven started smoking when we cooked and set the fire alarms off. There were no matches or gas left in the fire lighter. The shower’s water pressure was unfortunately very poor — more of a dribble than a shower. And oddly, the cheese grater lid was missing. With these small maintenance and stocking issues sorted, it would be close to perfect.

Summary: A charming and peaceful stay with warm hospitality, let down slightly by a few maintenance issues.

Positive: Spotlessly clean lovely bathroom,very well equipped everything you need. The hosts were very friendly. Scone jam and cream in the fridge on arrival.which was lovely

Negative: There is a village pub 5 minutes drive but it is remote. The up side is its very quiet.

Positive: Perfect in every way. So comfy and spotlessly clean, everything to hand. It was quite off the beaten track but that added to the peace and quiet. scrummy cream tea waiting and lovely flowers. Great place for walking over the moors.

Positive: Great property located in Pendrift, 3/4 of a mile North of Blisland. Property had everything we could want with a large dog in tow.. Property very spacious. Great seating indoors, lovely conservatory and in garden. Good food and drink in Blisland Inn pub only 3/4 mile down the road. The pub do not do small portions! Fantastic owners, welcome included cream tea, bottle of fizz and milk. Highly recommended, would stay again!

Negative: You cannot complain about narrow roads, it is Cornwall! However, if Sat-Nav tells you to turn right at the end of the drive, ignore it (even block the road) and go 1/2 a mile straight ahead and finally turn right past the Blisland Inn.
