Positive: The location is beautiful. Gorgeous outlook to the harbour right off the balcony, from the restaurant and bar and waterfront rooms. Walk up to the Southhead and overlooking the bar where the harbour meets to ocean. Exquisite! Staff particularly attentive to our needs, most accommodating. Local fish and chips were delectable, at Opononi. The meal we got as a takeaway from the hotel restaurant was very good, fish and chips and a burger, lots of salad, beautifully presented.

Positive: The Sands was having construction work carried out during our stay, we knew there was a limited menu for dinner and no breakfast available. This was due to their communication before our stay. We appreciated this and enjoyed our dinner and they made it special with a birthday candle on our dessert. Made us feel special.

Negative: Loved our stay, staff were lovely, there was nothing I didn't like.
