Positive: Brilliant stay with my family in Winchester. It was such a smooth process collecting the keys from the lock box. The hos was brilliant in providing all the information we needed before arriving at the property. Brilliant stay overall, we really enjoyed it!

Positive: Very well placed for travel (rail station, buses, Tower Hill carpark); excellent view of medieval Great Hall and register office weddings; near to main shops and pubs, and Theatre Royal Winchester. Comfortable beds, spacious sitting/kitchen/diner with all the usual appliances. Wide doorways for wheelchair access. One highish armchair for infirm visitors. Roof terrace if you are moderately agile.
Negative: As the building is positioned on a main route around the city centre, including the Park and Ride buses every seven minutes, there is constant traffic noise, plus a chiming clock on adjacent council offices. So take out your hearing aids. Be sure to avoid arrival complications after 4pm by arranging precise time for key collection. Plan setting down passengers carefully as there are double yellow lines around whole building!

Positive: The location of the apartment, which is close to the city centre. It was already my third time there. I probably will rent it again when coming to Winchester.

Positive: The Penthouse is a 2 minute walk from Winchester town centre which was perfect as we had a baby in a pushchair with us so we could pop in and out as needed. There is a balcony (we didn't use this but would have been great outside space) and 2 bathrooms. The en-suite is a great shower room and the other, shared by 2 bedrooms, had a lovely bath with overhead shower. The water was wonderfully hot for a good soak at the end of a day of sightseeing! Claire, our host, was amazing. She made sure there was a travel cot, changing mat and high chair for the baby - all of which we used as we live abroad and couldn't bring our own. Check in was very easy via Claire and communication with her was excellent throughout.
Negative: The location is great - in the middle of town - but you are on busy streets so the flat is a bit noisy. That didn't worry us but if you are looking for a peaceful place to stay, then you might want to be further out or just use some earplugs overnight. Bring a bar of soap or shower gel if you use these as they aren't provided - that was the same in the National Trust cottage we stayed in before The Penthouse so I guess these aren't provided these days but the flat is otherwise fully stocked with sachets of tea, coffee, sugar etc. as well as capsules for the coffee machine so that is a very minor gripe!
Summary: We loved our stay at The Penthouse and would happily choose to stay there again.

Positive: A very spacious and well cleaned flat right at the Westgate with three comfortable bedrooms and a huge living room/kitchen. We didn't spend a lot of time in the space itself but it has everything you could ask for and even enough space in the living room for a quick group round of video games on the TV. (Yes, we're the kind of people who travel with a console.) One bedroom has an en suite with a shower, the other bathroom is shared between two bedrooms and that's the one that comes with a tub. There were even complimentary coffee pods and milk, there's nothing else we could have asked for. If I happen to be in the area again I'll for sure look for availability here.
