Come and enjoy the peace and privacy of this comfortable holiday home. With heritage status and history as a former Forester's meeting place, 'The Orange Lodge' offers a unique experience. Thick walls and high windows provide a tranquil atmosphere and truly a place to relax and unwind. The hall, with original rimu flooring and timber panelling, now forms a grand open plan living space. A well-equipped kitchen (6 burner Smeg oven and hob), sumptuous bathroom, 2 separate double bedrooms upstairs and 1 double downstairs will make yours a stay to relish.

As for location, it doesn't get much handier than this. The Lodge sits round the corner from Petone's vibrant Jackson street. Highlights include colourful shops, cafes, bars, restaurants, galleries and boutique lighthouse cinema. Two large supermarkets, Shandon golf course and Wel Tec are also within walking distance.
The beach with safe swimming or for evening sunset views across the Harbour is a 5 minute walk away. The Hutt river trail is just down the road. 15 minutes by bus, train or car will take you to Wellington city, ferries, museums, botanic garden, shops and Westpac stadium. Alternatively 10 minutes by bus or car to Lower Hutt city and Queensgate Mall. Seaview marina provides local boat storage and launching.

Summary: Don't be discouraged by the outside appearance of this gem of a place. As soon as you enter you are presented with a spacious, verging on opulent living space. Everything was as listed. Beautifully maintained and clean, we had a cosy couple of nights during some petty awful weather. Underfloor heating, comfortable beds, efficient heating was just what we needed.Only minute criticism was no coffee plunger but everything else was great. I have never seen so many towels in one cupboard and the library was interesting. An added bonus was waking up to the sound of tuis in the trees. Perfect location for places to eat, groceries and an ice cream on the beach. Transport links were a breeze.We chose this place as my son lives and works in Petone (Lighthouse Cinema - worth a visit) and was a pleasant change from staying in the city. Surprisingly quiet and peaceful. Highly recommend this accommodation.

Summary: Centrally located with easy access to public transport to Wellington. Slightly awkward layout with toilet downstairs from 2 bedrooms and across the living room from the 3rd. Cleaning could have been more thorough, but the main things were fine. An unusual place to stay. Comfortable and convenient. No useable outside space though, unless you count the balcony off one bedroom.Definitely hasn't got a garden, just a concrete parking area with a pot plant. Over all a good option for a visit to Wellington.plant.andconvenient.

Summary: This property is gorgeous and well appointed with everything we needed. We stayed over Christmas and the owners even put up a Christmas tree for us. The location is perfect for driving to Wellington and the Hutt valley.
