Positive: A very nice property, with everything you need and very centrally placed. Car parking was fine for 2 cars - one under the arch and the other parked across the entrance. Very hospitable hosts. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Negative: The property needs a deep clean of the carpets, particularly the stairs. The mattress protectors should be washed every time the beds are changed - a few were stained. Similarly, the towels were stained and the oven a bit dirty. Based on the price, I wouldn’t expect to be asked to strip the beds on leaving.

Positive: The property was in a great location. It had everything we required for our short stay.

Negative: We were provided with the wrong code for the key box and took a while to get in touch and get the correct one. The beds were not that comfortable with 2 of my party being about 6ft the foot boards at the bottom of the bed restricted them in bed. The basement with the pool table was great but again we had an issue with taller people being able to stand up as the ceiling is very low.

Summary: Nice property for a short stay in Barnard Castle.

Positive: Lovely house with great amenities in a good location. Facilities were well appointed for an old building. Good WiFi etc.

Negative: Parking was a big issue. Builders working across the road had vans parked in the street and blocking the access to the archway by the house. Would have been nice to have the basic teabags coffee and some milk for our arrival. Had to go shopping immediately on arrival.

Negative: The communication with the host was poor, no response to requests for information and when experiencing problems with the wifi connection, we contacted the host who did not respond.

Summary: Barnard Castle is a lovely market town, sadly we would not return to the property.

Positive: Great, central location in the town. Lovely, spacious stone house with 4 large bedrooms. Good family bathroom and ensuite. Castle Barnard is a lovely town with lots of pubs, cafes, restaurants and great river walks.

Negative: Sadly no outdoor space.

Positive: The house was lovely, fully equipped with everything you needed, beds very comfortable location was perfect short walk to supermarket, shops, bars and restaurants. Lovely walks by the river and close to places of interest, we went to Durham, Bernard Castle and Raby Castle. Owner of the house very helpful and knowledgeable about the area when I telephoned for key code. Would definitely return.
