Summary: This home is about 25 minutes south of Pāhoa. The waves and ocean are amazing here. The home was spotless and well appointed. Sleep with the rear sliding doors open and fall asleep to the waves. Neighbors are very nice. And the views are amazing.

Summary: We loved our time at this property! Views from the beautiful decks were unbeatable. The home was clean and comfortable. It was thoughtfully stocked with kitchen, bathroom and beach amenities. Beds were a little on the stiffer side, but still comfortable. Check in/out was easy and property managers communicated well. Only downside of the property is the neighbors’ dogs, who barked at any type of motion, as well as in the morning hours (5-6am). Fortunately, they were fairly brief and didn’t go on for more than a few minutes at a time. Dogs were definitely not left outside to bark continuously. We would absolutely stay again at this property. Mahalo!

The house was very clean and very spacious. We thoroughly enjoyed the upstairs and downstairs balcony. Being able to walk out to see the ocean for miles and miles made our stay the most memorable! We loved keeping the windows open at night so we could fall asleep to the waves crashing against the rocks. The Jewel Box is an unbelievable place that was so incredibly relaxing for me and my family!

Summary: This was a perfect place for two long-time friend couples to make a home base. Two primary bedrooms with water views meant both of us had great ocean views from the bedrooms and their decks. Kitchen was very functional to cook in -- the laundry machines worked well. We did experience an issue with the microwave and a replacement was delivered the same day. The area was wet at times which resulted in the black walking steps being slippery but it was easy to just walk on the grass. We found plenty to do locally as well as visiting the Volcano although the traffic through the area can get backed up so always good to plan extra time and patience. For nimble folks, it is possible to go down some steep trails to get to the black sand beach .4 mile away, as well as down to the lava rocks in front of the house from a trail at the end of the street. We found the local Wednesday night Farmer's Market a great experience. Oh, and did I mention we saw whales on 4 out of 7 days? Fantastic to relaxing on the deck and spot whales!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We just spent 8 wonderful relaxing nights at the Jewel Box and it was a jewel. One clarification is that this property is offered by Hawaii Life real estate brokers and NOT VRBO. The did all communication, service, contract, and fees. Forget VRBO.The property is exactly as described and is perfectly equipped for a warm weather escape.Great kitchen and two private bedrooms with full en suite baths. There are 3 decks each with a slightly different sun, wind, and whale watching views. Beautiful daily sunrises, whales as close as 100m from the decks. Very private and minutes from the black sand beach.Only issue was the neighbors barking dogs. They bark at everything morning, evening, and the middle of the night. We had to close things on the north side of the home to block the noise...Property is highly recommended for a remote getaway.
