Summary: It’s getting old & a bit tired. Bar was tiny. Restaurant was atmosphere free. Ate in the bar. Food OK not excellent Awesome view of the bay

Summary: We had a great 1 night stay at The Imperial Hotel. It was called a cosy room so we were expecting a small room but there was an entrance lobby, bathroom and bedroom. Very comfortable bed and a good location within walking distance of the town

Summary: Great stay at the Imperial hotel, amazing views from our huge room, lovely bed and facilities. Bath a little small for taller people. Service from all the staff was great but special mention must go to Kate at reception for really looking after us, and Basia in the restaurant who was brilliant too. We will definitely be back soon.

Summary: I awoke on Monday morning to a construction side outside my room. I said I wanted a refund, but the hotel staff were most obliging. They put me in one of their largest suites with sea views and a sitting room. I changed my mind about that refund. I was quite enchanted.

Summary: Reception and main lounge was lovely staff in general were friendly. Breakfast was very good. Room was old chairs were thread bare and no cushion so couldn’t sit in them. No air conditioning but a standing fan, which unfortunately didn’t work. Pillows were practically none existent so thin. Shower broke . We were offered to take ourselves down to the leisure area to use shower there? We refused. Then begrudgingly given a key for another room on our floor just to use that shower but not to actually change rooms? My husband complained to the manager on leaving and was given a refund of about 20% of the bill as an apology.

Summary: Great hotel only 10 minutes walk down hill to the marina lovley staff the bar area had a nice chill vibe we had a big double deluxe with Seaview fantastic views from the balcony

Summary: Reminds me of a fading Hollywood star who's still trying to live up to their image from decades ago. The original parts of the building are looking tatty and the 60s outside looks worse. VERY noisy plant room just below our room. Staff are great and the views amazing, but these don't make up for the rest of the experience. 3 star hotel now at best not 4 and it must be so far below it's 5 star hayday.

Summary: The Imperial in Torquay is one of those old school hotels that was for the rich and the wealthy back in the day! Still trying to live off its heritage but this hotel does need some investment. The main reception area and bar areas you can see are being refurbished and having a lot of money spent. The lavish open spaces make you feel like you are living in a dozen mansions for the night! I have to say the hotel rooms are unfortunately not well cleaned. The bed frame I had, was quite old and has stains all over it. The carpets were absolutely vile which looked like they hadn't been replaced in a LONG TIME! I think they need an army of staff to go round the hotel with rug doctors OR just rip up the carpets and try again! The room smelt very stale but not the old kind of stale which you would understand as it was established in 1866! The furniture unfortunately yes was old and some hopefully quite period, I am no expert but my main chair that sits at the desk space was collapsed and broke, luckily has a sitting chair in the bedroom and separate table. The location is very good and just be aware of extra costs at every turn! The gym was in clean and overall good condition and I did use it! The bathroom and bath products were the best bit about the room, although a leaking shower head prompted baths instead which is more to my liking anyway! Breakfast was plentiful and well laid out with a cracking view! Overall I would come again and ask for a modernised room! If available!
