Summary: In any language, this spot is a gem. The owner of this apartment has extraordinary attention to detail and puts her heart into all she does! The apartment is immaculate and the traveler's every need is anticipated and perfectly met. La propriètaire nous a gatés dès notre arrivée avec un repas régional et des specialités de la région pour le petit déjeuner--y compris un kügelhopf! There are good quality bikes at the house that can be borrowed for excursions--we recommend the fabulous bike path along the canal which goes to Strasbourg in one direction and winds through farms (including the famous cignolles parmis les vaches!) and villages the other.

Summary: We spent a week at this wonderful apartment and would have stayed longer if we could. Our hosts were so nice to work with in ensuring our stay was perfect. We were welcomed by Pierre & Simone as well as Simone’s sister Sabine. They ensured she was there just so communications would go smoothly (Sabine’s English was the best among the 3; our French was very poor!). The freshly baked kougelhopf and refreshments were a nice welcoming surprise. Our hosts provided lots of information regarding the city and the region and remained a phone call away to answer any questions we had. Perfect hosts! The apartment was spacious, immaculately clean and stocked with anything we could possibly need and more: linens, food, toiletries, small appliances, etc. The backyard, complete with swingset/playhouse/lovely flora was a favorite of our children. The location is perfectly situated in a quiet suburb 4 km from the city center and 700 m from the tram stop. Grocery and take-out restaurants were nearby as well. We did have a car which made visiting the nearby cities along the wine route a breeze but you could navigate without one as well. Strasbourg itself is a beautiful & interesting city full of fascinating sights and tastes. Alsace is a region that is a great mix of French and German culture, friendly people and postcard-perfect scenery. Sadly, we did not learn as much French as we hoped before our travels, but our efforts to speak the little we knew were met by warm smiles and patience. We hope to be back to see Strasbourg and the Selig family in the future!
