Positive: We liked everything about the cottage. It was very comfortable and well equipped. The Wi-Fi was good in all areas. We had an amazing stay.

Negative: Nothing. Just a tip, when looking for the cottage on a sat nav, put in Back Ends street name and it will take you to the right road. Also to get to the high street quickly, come out of the door to the cottage and walk left down the path and it will bring you to a door to the high street.

Summary: Perfect!

Positive: The property was clean, well appointed and comfortable. Access to the High Street was very convenient.

Negative: Directions to the property from A44 were a bit vague and we could not find the property. It was after 5:00pm and tried to contact Booking.com and the emergency number. No answer. Finally found the property after using the directions from the other direction, Weston-sub-Edge. An email request was sent to Booking.com because we could not access the WiFi. The email was never responded to. When speaking with Sykes Cottages directly they never received the forwarded email.

Summary: I would highly recommend The Cottage. I would not recommend booking it through Booking.com.

Positive: Location was perfect. Bedding and towels very good.

Negative: Instructions to find property are poor. Information pack does not give good details on how to quickly get to the high street without walking the long way around on the road. A local helped us and gave us top tips. The property is tired and needs attention in places. The lounge has a distinct smell of wet dog. It was very stark and not very inviting. Lighting mismatched cool vs warm bulbs and felt cold and dark. The bin in the kitchen was broken so we had to keep handling a not very clean lid which should have been electronic. Lots of cobwebs around lights. Lighting poor in 2 out of 3 bedrooms. Shower over bath leaked considerably when in use. Water pressure dropped constantly. Couldn’t keep some windows open on a hot day as latches broken. Window in 2nd bedroom at night had to be held open by lots of books. Mould in the en-suite shower. Poor wifi which didn’t work throughout our stay.

Summary: This is a real shame. This property could be fabulous if some care was taken in updating and maintaining it properly.

Negative: There were a few issues. The plug, in the main bathroom sink, was not attached by the chain. The shower nozzle, in main bathroom, leaked water when turning from bath to shower. There was mould in a lot of the kitchen cupboards. Damp along one kitchen wall and on other side in hallway. Windows, in kitchen, were stained where glass had blown. Furniture was mismatched in kitchen and living room. Sofa in living room is creaky and worn out. Kitchen table chipped with small chunk missing. Unpleasant smell of drains during our stay. Patch paint job along wall of stairs. Lovely cottage overall and very clean. My friends and i thoroughly enjoyed our time there, it just needs a bit of attention and care.

Summary: Lovely little village. People very friendly. Good base to explore other places
