The Bridge House was built in 1908 and functioned originally as Newgard's Store on old Highway One, which ran down to and across the Albion River. Beautifully expanded and restored in 2001, and updated in 2015, the home boasts redwood construction, wainscoting, a 10-foot ceiling in the living/kitchen area, two bedrooms, a back parlor, two bathrooms and full kitchen. It is surrounded by lush gardens brimming with coast-loving plants in bloom throughout the seasons.
Perched on the cliffs on the south-east side of the Albion River Bridge -- the last wooden bridge on Highway One -- the Bridge House offers birds-eye views of the Albion River and Bay. Lie in bed and listen to the waves crash against the wooden bridge timbers or sit on the deck and follow the birds gliding the currents. Sunsets are spectacular from the Albion Cove where you can find the fossilizing remnants of the logging railroad. Like kayaks or canoes? Walk down to Pacific Union College to rent a water exploration vehicle or if you have your own watercraft, head over the bridge to the "Flats" and launch for an up- or down-river ride for a small launch fee.
This is a great retreat for a family vacation, romantic weekend, or fun with friends. Located just seven miles from the village of Mendocino, the Bridge House is close to beaches, kayaking, hiking, biking, horseback riding, and much more. The Mendocino coast offers myriad activities for young, old and those in between! A short walk from the Albion store, which stocks fine wines, deli items, and just about anything you could possibly need, the house is also just a short walk from fine dining at the Ledford House. The Albion River Inn & Restaurant is just over the bridge.

Summary: Lovely little home! Very comfortable! I wish there were black blinds for the front bedroom as you can see the headlights from a vehicle when crossing bridge at night but I still would love to stay here again!! Perfect and peaceful! Great lil town!

Summary: We were a party of 3 adults - parents and young adult son- staying at The Bridge House. We all loved it! The layout of 2 separate bedrooms with baths worked well for us. The kitchen was terrific and we didn’t find anything missing when we prepared dinners. The property is immaculately clean, modern & well cared for. Linens are top quality as is everything else - exactly as pictured. The house is easy to find and enter. We loved the deck for morning coffee & evening wine! There is a small market within easy walking distance. The garden is beautiful with lots of hummingbirds. Ledford House restaurant is nearby & delicious. So many beautiful parks are a quick drive away. Spectacular coastline views are around every corner. Mendocino is less than a 15 min drive. Don’t miss the Mendocino Coast Botanical Garden! This a perfect home base for exploring the Mendocino area and relaxing with family or friends at the end of the day. Definitely recommend!

Summary: We loved our stay in Albion. The house was so roomy and comfortable. We didn't even need the upstairs room, but would've been great if another couple had joined us. The house had everything we needed. The kitchen was well stocked with all kinds of necessities. We love the openness of the living area. It was a windy weekend, but we were cozy inside. We didn't have to touch the thermostat at all. Great instructions provided for access and operations. Hope to come back next year.

Summary: The Bridge House is beautiful and had everything we needed. The location was perfect for us since our family lives just 2 mins away ! The small store is within walking distance for last minute necessities. The beds were comfortable and the radiant heat in the flooring was amazing! We cooked a few family dinners and found the kitchen was well stocked and laid out. Alison is a great host. We will definitely stay at this home again.

Summary: Our third time staying in this peaceful home. The kitchen and gardens are our favorite parts, oh and the clawfoot bathtubs! Insider tip: the front bedroom has 3 windows with blinds. We being fitted sheets to also hang over them at night for a darker room. We look forward to returning!

Summary: The Bridge House is a lovely house and had everything we needed. The location is perfect...there is a small store within walking distance and the beautiful beaches and Albion harbor are a short distance away. The beds were comfortable, the radiant heat in the flooring was fabulous, and the kitchen was well stocked with the basics. The garden in the spring and summer I'm sure are absolutely fabulous ....definitely recommend!
