Positive: The large rooms in our suite had wide windows and leafy views. The kitchenette was thoughtfully provisioned. The place was extremely quiet-we thought we were the only guests but there was at least a bus full of others.

Negative: Had to do laundry in town 15 kms away.

Summary: Luxury, retreat, atmosphere, quiet, spacious. All wonderful.

Positive: I liked the history of the building. I enjoyed visiting the beautiful chapel on-site. The 'resort' also had a chocolatier situated in residence. Delicious Belgium chocolate. The hostess made me feel welcome and was friendly and hospitable. I appreciated this as a solo guest.

Negative: The room I was given, close to the main door and staircase, allowed constant noise from other guests entering and exiting the hotel during the evening. The noise, particularly, coming from the occupiers one floor above it, lead to a disruptive stay. They were slamming doors, moving furniture and talking/arguing until 2am in the morning. This did not allow for a restful nights sleep.

Positive: Striking looking property in large grounds. Clean. Comfortable beds. Friendly staff. More of a Retreat than a Resort.

Negative: About 15 minutes drive from Oamaru. No laundry etc. All odd crockery & cutlery. Not well equipped.

Summary: Clean and comfortable but overpriced compared with other hotels we have stayed in in NZ which have been better equipped.

Positive: Nice grounds with history of the grounds

Negative: The room we stayed in didnt have any internal window coverings so the hall way lights shining throug the windows all night. But also the room wasnt quite ready for people to stay so maybe that still needs to be looked at. Also we was travelling with our dog and when book was added to the booking so when arrived we was moved rooms to another one. The booking was made for a king studio room with extra large double bed the room we ended up in was two single beds with not kitchenette ect small details but worth noting
