Positive: Such a beautiful and unique experience! I felt like I was in a museum. I loved being able to appreciate the details of the construction of these traditional houses up close. I loved being surrounded by frangipanis and pandan trees. The food is superb and the staff are really friendly and helpful. You won't have all the comforts you would have in a modern resort, so this is more for people who can really appreciate this place and the experience it offers. Do some research about it, about the person behind it and what the project entails, and you will enjoy your experience to the fullest. The rooms and facilities were exceptionally clean. The location is great: Penarik is a quiet village with friendly people and lush nature. It is probably best for people who have a car because it is a bit remote and it isn't easy to get a Grab to pick you up there, but we didn't have a car and still enjoyed our time there. They have bikes that guests can borrow although they could use some maintenance. It is also a bit far from the nearest jetty (about 20min by car). Staff can help you arrange transportation and trips to Redang but this option is not very cost-effective. Overall, we loved our stay at Terrapuri! For us, it was great to disconnect and enjoy slow days, and learn more about Malaysian history and culture.

Negative: Be aware that there are mosquitos in the evening, and some will get in the room, and there is just no way around it. There is aircon and fans in the rooms but, because of the design of these traditional houses, the room will be warm regardless. It does cool down a bit at night, especially when it rains, but don't expect a cool room. I only took one cleanliness point away because the day we decided to stay at Terrapuri and enjoy the place, the pool happened to be dirty (muddy), and they didn't start cleaning it until late in the day, so we couldn't use the pool that day. All the other days the pool was clean, though.

Positive: Staff attitude is very good and professional. The Malay Heritage buildings are amazing

Negative: The room is like an oven. I arrived at 1200. Had to leave the room for the cool air of the beach. Return to the room after 4 hours and the mattress still too hot to even allow me to rest

Summary: Must solve the heat problem. Aircon was turnon when we arrived. Maybe at least a few hrs B4 arriving
