Positive: It’s in a wonderful location, very beautiful, and about 30 minutes walk from Kiso Fukushima town centre. The hosts are very kind and friendly, offering to drive us to town when we needed! Having laundry was very convenient, and the beds were very comfy.

Positive: The host was very helpful and lovely. We were so surprised with how much they wanted to help and make.oir stay the best it could be. Lots of local knowledge, showing us special places and giving more than we could have hoped for. If every we return, we will be staying with them again.

Summary: We have stayed in dozens of places in Japan and this was easily the best.

Positive: The hosts were very attentive to our needs and often suggesting experiences and secret locations. Lots of help with transport and organising our complex train tickets. So warm and welcoming. Genuinely surprised by how wonderful our stay was.

Positive: The owners were very friendly and helpful. The husband drove me to two onsens but both were closed. He also drove us to dinner and to the train station the next morning. We ate at their restaurant and the meal was excellent. The beds were comfortable and our room had nice view over their garden. it was in a very quiet neighborhood.

Negative: There is very little within walking distance, no onsen or restaurants and it took over 30 minutes to reach the accommodation by public bus. After a long day hiking the Nakasendo trail I was ready to rest. There is only one bathroom for all the guests. There were five guests in total and we had to wait to access bathroom and the one toilet. The room upstairs where we stayed was plain and tired, it could use new furniture. The room on the ground floor was Japanese style and much nicer. I am not sure where the common room was supposed to be, the kitchen or front room? It felt like we were staying at the owners' house not in a guesthouse.

Summary: Far from the train station, very basic guesthouse

Positive: The host Akiko is very friendly. She recommended a great Yakitori restanurant nearby (food is great but serving is very slow as only 2 persons are running the outlet) which we enjoyed very much.

Negative: Only one bathroom to share with other guests.

Positive: We absolutely loved the hospitality at this beautiful guesthouse. Communication was incredibly easy, and the hosts were always responsive. Our room featured a traditional Japanese layout with very comfortable beds. Even though the guesthouse was fully booked and the bathrooms were shared, everything was kept immaculately clean, and we never had to wait to use the shower or restroom. The property is a solid 40-minute walk from the train station, which we chose to do to get our steps in, but the owner generously offers a station pick-up. Since we hadn't eaten dinner when we arrived, he kindly drove us to a delicious local restaurant. The following morning, he even dropped us off at the train station. Overall, it was a spotless, comfortable, and gorgeous place to stay with exceptional service!
