The Garden apartment consists of two double and communicating bedrooms (in the largest it is possible to insert a third bed), a bathroom with shower and a third room with a fully equipped kitchen area and a dining area. Outside there is a small private garden with dining area and outdoor relaxation area. The apartment is located on the ground floor of an old farmhouse renovated with charm, eco-friendly materials, immersed in the green hills of Bologna and surrounded by olive trees. The structure, which consists of two other apartments, is located within a large property of over 100,000 square meters in which there is the main house, the infinity pool including a large relaxation area and a changing room with toilet, a play area with ping-pong and an area equipped for bbq and the parking area. The swimming pool is 1.40 m deep and is equipped with comfortable steps for the descent, with an infinity edge with a spectacular view of the surrounding hills and with seasonal opening from 15/05 to 30/09 depending on weather conditions and open daily from 9.00 to 18.30. Free internet and wi-fi throughout the property. The equipped bbq area is available until 9.00 p.m. Our guests are asked to make proper use of the facilities and equipped areas, freeing them at the end of the hours indicated. For our guests we organize in English for a fee: tastings at wineries; Cooking class in the apartment with professional sfogline (tagliatelle, lasagna, tortellini, etc.), visits with tasting of Parmigiano-Reggiano and traditional balsamic vinegar, e-bike rental, horseback riding and archery.

Summary: Wonderful flat, central in the Emilia Romagna, perfect for daily trips. Incredibly clean and well stocked, the view from the Pool is amazing. The son of the owners made us feel very welcome.

Summary: We selected this apartment because of the beautiful pool with great view and to be near Bologna. And that was just like we hoped it to be. We were perfectly welcomed by Alessandro’s son Gregorio. And met Alessandro the next day. He was a perfect host to us. We loved to play with the dog Novi, who was excited to play with the ball in the beautiful Olive Garden. We went to a few very good restaurants in the neighborhood (Trattorio del Borgo Monteveglio and La Casola) and visited Bologna several times. Be careful where you drive with your car, do not enter the ZTL, because you have to pay a fine. The few things we were less positive about are: the WiFi was not everywhere so strong, there was no couch, we knew that, but missed it a bit, and we wanted a bit more fresh air in the second room. From this room you have to go to the other room to the bathroom. It was very nice to have the screens against insects before every window, because there were many mosquitoes when we were there. The infinity pool was very large and we enjoyed it very much! We loved the quietness of the place, yet still close to Bologna. Thank you very much for taking good care of us.

Summary: We stayed in the Garden unit for 9 days in mid July. The property is beautiful and Alessandro and his family are wonderful people and great hosts. They were very accommodating to our family by amending the pool hours. The property is perfectly situated to see many great areas around Bologna and all are within about an hours’ drive. The only issue we had was the heat. Unfortunately there were heat warnings throughout this part of Europe in July and the property is not set up yet to deal with those temps, so it made sleeping and relaxing very difficult ( although the pool certainly helped). I know that Alessandro indicated they will be installing air conditioners for 2024 so that should address the issue. Otherwise we loved our vacation.

Summary: We had a wonderful stay at Borgo degli Ulivi. Alessandro and Angela were welcoming hosts (et pour les francophones, Alessandro parle français). We stayed in the Garden apartment, which was comfortable. We particularly appreciated the private terrace. The infinity pool was a great way to cool off on the hot July afternoons, and as other guests have noted, the view of the picturesque landscape enchanting.

Summary: Borgo degli Ulivi is an enclosed hilltop residence in a setting of olive trees, vineyards and woodland, a tranquil retreat from which to explore surrounding villages and the splendorous city of Bologna - home to many treasures including "the oldest university in continuous operation in the world" (Wiki). The "Borgo" rests above the township of Crespellano, which offers supermarkets, chemists and other services. Many will know of Parma ham and Parmigiano cheese, and be aware of the ancient vinticultural heritage of Emilia Romagna, but I don't think we had understood how fundamental a role food and wine have in this region. Visting restaurants in the environs of Crespellano is a highly recommendable way of enjoying this deep-rooted and bounteous tradition. The most participatory of our culinary experiences was a visit by sisters Monika and Barbara to teach us how to make pasta with basic ingredients and rolling pins - a great learning experience not only in pasta production, our teachers being highly knowledgeable in all aspects of regional food culture. Our hosts, Alessandro and Angela and their two sons, Francesco and Giorgio, were very friendly and ready to offer advice. The pool has a fantastic view and is a great place to relax. One easily solvable quibble in my glowing account is that a more accurate description of just one feature of the smaller of the two flats would have been appreciated. Its two bedrooms connect, one only reachable by passing through the other.
