Positive: We stayed at the cottage for two days and it happened to be my birthday during our stay. Miranda surprised me with a cake which really touched me because no stranger has ever done something like that for me before. I am very grateful for this. The only mistake we made was coming here when we had only two days left before leaving. I wish we had more time to spend in this beautiful place. When it was time to go my wife had tears in her eyes and did not want to leave. We hope to visit again and stay for a much longer time next time.

Negative: There is no shop in the village. But there is a Spar within a 5-minute drive.

It has everything you could possibly need, from traditional Georgian musical instruments and a guitar, to colorful disco lights and a powerful, highquality speaker. The space is very large and comfortable six people can easily stay here. It’s also great for longer stays and for those who work remotely, as it’s quiet and cozy. The host is incredibly kind and attentive, spending time with her is a true pleasure. She even offers discounts for long-term stays! Guests can also enjoy delicious homemade meals, and the yard is spacious and safe for children, with a swing included. Compared to other cottages I’ve visited, this one stands out for its highquality and beautifully designed kitchenware and appliances. Positive: Svanieri is pure perfection — peace and tranquility at their best. It’s the perfect place to disconnect and become one with nature, the forest, the mountains, and the night sky. And the stars… what a show! When was the last time you saw the Milky Way with the naked eye? Here you’ll see millions of sparkling stars every night. By day, the mountain views are just as breathtaking — the kind that make you rethink what truly matters in life. Have you ever stood on a mountain and watched a cloud drift straight through you? Or breathed so deeply the fresh air made you feel dizzy, like a glass of fine wine? You’ll experience all that here. The cottage sits high on the mountain, about 600 meters from an authentic Svan village called Pari. It’s so secluded you can’t even see the village — just you, the mountain, and the views. The cottage is impressively spacious, with enough room for two families with kids, and fully equipped for a comfortable stay. The hosts also offer delicious home-cooked meals at very fair prices, made by a local grandmother. My wife literally had tears in her eyes when she tasted the homemade meat blintzes on our first day; she said it reminded her of her childhood home cooking. Outside, the yard is full of great spots: a shaded sitting area under a fruit tree, two hammocks, a swing perched on the cliff edge (perfect for photos), and a firepit to warm up on cool nights. A supermarket is just a 10-minute drive away for basic supplies.

Negative: The cottage is quite remote. Other than the nearby supermarket, the only real hub is Mestia, the regional capital, which is about a 45-minute drive away. To be fair, if you want to do anything in Svaneti you’ll likely head to Mestia anyway, since everything connects there. It just means you’ll need to plan your grocery shopping ahead. Alternatively, do what we did — order meals directly from the hosts. They prepare delicious food with just a few hours notice (or the night before, for breakfast). Just note breakfast is usually served after 10am, since it’s freshly made.

Summary: I left a piece of my soul on that mountain. I look forward to the day I can return and find it again
