Positive: This was a well equipped studio in a good location with a lovely view. The bed was very comfortable. The port transfers were very efficient. We really enjoyed Iraklia but it was too short a stay.

Positive: Dimitris, who runs the place, and Mrs Anthi (his mother) look after the rooms and guests excellently; Mrs Anthi never failed to ask, whenever I saw her, whether everything was OK (it was). The young lady who cleans the rooms does a great job - if anything, I had to beg her not to change the bedlinen every couple of days, which I found unnecessary. The studios are located right on the edge of the tiny village of Ai Giorgis, so it's only 3' on foot to the nearest, slightly upmarket tavern Akathi (delicious food), the all-day café 'To Perasma' (also run by Dimitris) and to the multifunctional 'Melissa' - a 'kafeneio' and local hub that doubles as the island's post office, travel agency and one of just two (sparsely stocked) mini markets. The location is very convenient, if you choose to swim in Ai Giorgis (a tiny harbour beach, but the water looks clean); it's about 20' on foot from the main beach of Livadi. In terms of practicalities: - The mattress is very comfy and the fridge is quiet. - All windows are double-glazed and fitted with insect screens. - The kitchenette is perfectly adequate for preparing simple meals, as, indeed, I and most other (nice and friendly) guests I met did. - The tap water comes from the local desalination plant and is absolutely fine to drink. You will be offered bottled water wherever you go, but I personally don't like unnecessary plastic waste. - The terrace is shared. You will have a table and folding chairs outside your room, but if privacy is important, maybe this isn't the place for you. - Most guests I met were discreet and quiet. Not the right place for loud conversations and music. - Most rooms overlook the small orchard and the village, but at the far end of the terrace, you can enjoy views of the Aegean - and of the sunset.

Negative: Minor details: - For some reason, there's no shower bracket in the otherwise elegant and roomy bathroom, so, a hands-free shower is not possible. - Currently, the curtains dim, but don't block light; however, Mrs Anthi informed me that these will be replaced with proper blackout curtains. - To enjoy sea views, you have to be sun-resistant, as there's no shade at that end of the terrace. - The French windows double as doors. You can lock them (tilted or closed), but it's a bit fiddly to draw the curtains before you go, if you don't want people prying into your room, as there are no shutters.
