Sunset Suzys Tropical Retreat is located perfectly 15 minutes outside of Hilo town in a beautiful neighborhood called Hawaiian Paradise park.. It is located on a beautiful one acre lot, filled with fruit trees, green grass, green geckos, and tropical birds. There are no neighbors..Only trees, birds and the quiet hush of the wind and very secluded and private.
Its beautiful cottage located on the Big Island of Hawaii with over 800sq ft is beautifully furnished and equipped with a flat screen TV, folding sofa, two twin beds, one queen bed, hibachi grill, and all kitchen cookware.
The ocean is a quick 5-minute drive away and there you will find some amazing sea scapes..with spectacular walking trails along the sea.
If you're coming to see Kilauea Volcano it is as the youngest of all of Hawaii's volcanoes, and one of the most active, yet most accessible volcanoes in the world, Kilauea is one of Hawaii's most defining natural wonders.
The volcano is located just a short 35-minute drive from Suzy's House. There are numerous hiking trails, Hot lava tours and even big lava tubes to walk through.
Hot Ponds on Big Island are located only 20 minutes away.
There are several hot springs / hot ponds in the Puna district on the east coast of the Big Island. Most are publicly accessible and especially if you are staying more than 7 days on the Big Island, these make a great addition to your itinerary!

Summary: Sunset Susie's was such a beautiful home and property, it made our stay so much fun, the yard was perfect for the kiddos to play, for the wifey and I to frolic, I would jog around the yard every morning, having a fire in the yard was so nice. The fruit trees, the area, the perfect location to go in all directions and see every single thing that was awesome that we could see, there's too much to see in this area, lol. Her house was so nice that we almost just wanted to hang out there and enjoy our stay in Hawaii, but we still got out every single day to explore. And this house is in the perfect location for serious exploration. Thank you Susie!!!!

Summary: Simple and clean, comfortable place to reset after long days out. We appreciated the peace and calm since this home is away from the chaos of town. We enjoyed watching the birds in the backyard and geckos on back porch. There’s a symphony of frogs in the evenings to lull you to sleep. Suzy was immediately responsive when messaged. We stayed for 4 nights and had no issues.

Summary: The home is very private. The home is surrounded by thick rainforest that capsulate the entire property. Theres many guava trees surrounding the home and all over the neighborhood. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking and comes with a blender and straining tools. I used strawberry guava from the yard to make guava lava(guava juice) The lizards on the back porch LOVE bananas and will actually swarm the whole porch for anything they find tasty. The owner put a valentine bouquet with tropical flowers/leaves on the porch and the lizards were camping in the pot and eating the big tropical leaves. Theres a bird feeder in the backyard that attracts probably 100 birds at a time. They swarm it like crazy, its great to watch. The inside of the home was very clean, spacious, and the AC in the master room is a big plus. If youre looking for creature comforts in a tropical paradise with fruit and wildlife right outside the door, stay at this place.

Summary: I rented this place for my nephew and his family so they could come and visit grandma. They truly enjoyed their stay and I will definitely rent this house again for future family members visits!

Summary: Private location, convenient for travel to Mt. View and Keaau. Clean home with a well stocked kitchen. Lawn maintenance was ill-timed, they came to the house at 430-7pm. Home was very hot as there is no shade on the house.

Summary: The home is in perfect location to Hilo and Volcano...very secluded and private. The home was incredibly clean, comfortable to come home to after a long day of sightseeing. Ashley was a great host and was good to communicate with.

Summary: We stayed at Suzys house and really loved it.. Suzys house is on a one acre lot.. that is really secluded and private. We enjoyed the green geckos that we fed bannanas.. and the tropical birds that came to visit each day. The place is really green and grassy.. and surrounded by ferns and orchids. The house was perfect for our family. We came to see the volcano and it was in a perfect location for our big island vacation. I would recommend it to anyone.
