Positive: Great hotel with a lovely crew, which is always helpful and in a good mood. They even organised a stunning NYE party for the guests with a sumptuous buffet, nice drinks and an improvised dancefloor with a great mix of music. The rooms are also very welcoming and have a lot of space. I can definitely recommend it!

Positive: Super nice staff, great cocktails, location is very close to Dambulla cave temple

Negative: Not worth the money in my opinion. Room is clean, however furniture is heavily used. Also, there are only two small windows, which are constantly covered by heavy curtains that can be barely moved so it is quite dark inside the room. Doors and windows are somewhat leaky so there are a lot of unwanted visitors in the room, which would not be a problem if the bed was equipped with a mosquito net. We had dinner once which was ok but quite expensive. For lunch we had ham and cheese toast which was horrible. The bread was only lightly toasted while the cheese and the bacon (the kitchen ran out of ham) were cold. The fries had white solid fat remains sticking to them. We had to wait 30 minutes for this meal. We booked a safari with the hotel. The guide was friendly but spoke no English at all, so he could not explain anything about the park, the animas etc. or answer our organizational questions. The car seems very old, suspension is worn out, my seat was moving around on every bump. Not worth the price (30€/person) better book somewhere else. Personally, I think the worst thing happened a check out: the (I think) manager asked us to leave a 10/10 review and pressured us in doing it right at the reception in front of him. I told him I would do it in the car. He kept insisting on showing me how it works but I persisted. Finally he gave in but told me not to forget about the 10/10. Then he gave my partner a survey form which also asked how we liked it. The form had already been pre-filled in with 10/10, so that there was practically no choice to choose anything else. I think part of the reason this hotel has such a high rating is the amount of pressure they put on guest to write good reviews.
