Positive: Spacious and airy at the reception and dining area. Tasty breakfast, good coffee

Negative: No lift. We had to drag our bags up the 2nd floor and we are seniors. No fresh milk or evaporated milk to accompany coffee. Reception needs to be more organised - they couldn't find my 2nd room booking upon checking in.

Positive: The only "western" thing available was eggs and toast - which was fine. The congee and the noodles and rice available were all too cold for our taste. We chose the Sun Hotel as it was just across the road from the Palace which is the central area for the annual festival. There were lots of tuk tuks to take us to the festival stalls in the other side of the hill. There was a nice little bar in the shops across the street with live music and karaoke if that’s your thing 🙂 We watched the 9pm fireworks from the balcony of one of our rooms.

Negative: None of our TV's worked - not a big deal but you would think that would be an easy thing for the hotel to get right. Difficult to mix the water for a shower - mine went boiling hot then freezing cold if you just added a little cold water, got some exercise jumping about 😂 One of our group had no hot water at all.

Summary: Basic but clean hotel, well placed for the cable car (funicular rail) up to the palace

Positive: You get what you pay for. The rooms are basic but clean. Ideally situated for the cable car and park. There is no elevator, so if you struggle with stairs request a lower floor.

Positive: Very nice place if your priority is birdwatching, they have free bicycle, nice staffs trying to help you, limited english, but we enjoy a lot.

Positive: Great value for money if you are not looking for anything fancy. It's simple but very clean and has everything so close nearby. The town centre is about 20 mins walk but we really enjoyed the town! The funicular to the old city is right across the road, as well as some of its stunning temples one minute walk from the hotel.

Negative: WiFi didn't function well.

Summary: Great value for money and good location to visit a beautiful old town of Phetchabury!
