Nestled into the French countryside with beautiful views of the mountains of the Massif Central and the Puy De Dome lies our 17th Century granite farmhouse, Tranquillité: Puy Rigaud. Two large double bedrooms, one French double bedroom, two bathrooms, rustic kitchen and a grand living room - the main house sits in 2.5 acres of its own gardens and pastures but also provides all mod cons including high speed internet and even a huge Home Cinema with thousands of films. Guests are assured a tranquil and calming holiday in our unpretentious and thoroughly relaxing home.
There is also a simple rustic cottage on the land which has a double bedroom for guests if necessary. This also has a small living room with ancient bread oven and gorgeous views.

Summary: Behind very quiet meadows and a snaky countryside road, stands a very authentic rock farm house ; everything is in place to make it relaxing : an outstanding view of wonderful bocage landscapes, the sound of a typical french countryside land : cockcrow, cows moos, soft wind cuddling the oak trees and pine trees. inside, a literal shelter to the eventual whims of the weather : a very tall living room, a big kitchen, a tv room, not less than three bedrooms, two bathrooms+restrooms. That was a lot for us (we were only two of us + our cute dog), but we really enjoyed the place. Thank you Amy, Lee and Michael, and I wish you all the best.

Summary: This old place is absolutely charming with absolutely every amenity available inside for visitors, unfortunately our Labrador wasn’t so keen on climbing the steps to the first floor which was a shame as it was a delight for us.

Summary: Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Puy Rigaud, very peaceful hence very relaxing. Wonderful chapel style sitting room which proved very comfortable for the amazing surround sound cinema experience! So many films that it became difficult to choose our evening entertainment!!

Summary: We spent a delightful week in this beautiful house with our three children visiting local markets and walking in the woods. If you are looking for a place to get away from more traditional tourist attractions then it's perfect. We were warmly welcomed by Patty who manages the house, the house itself was beautiful, just as pictured. We visited the local swimming lake to the delight of the children and lots of local markets. The volcanoes are well worth a trip and if you can manage the walk rather than the train, the views are stunning. It is a drive to eat out but again well worth the effort to sample local cuisine although it is hard to beat eating outside the house under the vines.

Summary: We had a lovely stay in this rustic but well equipped house which is in a tranquil, rural location with big skies and views overlooking a valley and further towards mountains - yet only a conveniently short drive to the nice little town of Auzances with its decent supermarket, pharmacy, bank etc. The property has a lovely big garden to sit in or wander around with a shaded terrace for eating outdoors or (as in our case) just doing nothing!. The impressive living room provides a wonderful space for relaxing in the evening or avoiding the heat of the day and the cinema system is a real bonus - backed up by a substantial library of films. We visited Aubusson about 35 min's drive away which is a typical French market-town with a couple of nice restaurants tucked by the river, but would particularly recommend a jaunt slightly further afield to the Puy de Domes for the enjoyable train-ride to the top, dramatic views of the volcanic landscape from the summit and the welcome surprise of a very good restaurant in the visitor centre. Given the rustic nature of the house, people with small children or restricted mobility would need to take extra care - for example on the open wooden staircase, but we had a lovely stay and would happily recommend it. The owner and property manager were very friendly, responsive and helpful.

Summary: House was perfect, the views were stunning, facilities great. View from the bath was outstanding. Kitchen lovely, sitting room was something to behold. Walks in the woods with my dog were very enjoyable and right on the doorstep. Tip:-bring a long rope if you have a dog so they don’t go wondering into the adjoining fields as the huge garden includes a meadow. We ate in the garden every night, and breakfast every morning. The night sky here was a joy to sit and stare at, a habit I got into every night. Fantastic place, no negatives, only positives, can’t wait to return.

Summary: The cottage is located in a very rural location and as a result we had a lovely relaxing stay on the run up to the Vichy Ironman event. We were fortunate to have a heat wave 28deg to 32deg so sun bathing in the garden was a delight with the lovely views and overall peace and quiet. The local area is very rural and we didn't realise how difficult it can be to find an eating place in the local area - especially in the evening, hence we enjoyed the tremendous selection of foods in the intermarche supermarket in Auzances and ate in the cottage 3 evenings. We did do some driving and found the highlights to be: trip to Vichy and Aubusson (shuts down early eve), swimming in Lake Champagnat - basic but nice enough (Ironman training week), drive to Lake Chambon although very busy at Lake, small cafe at roadside enroute to Rougnat from Auzances - lovely salad for lunch and local roads are quiet for cycling training runs (take care for the occasional car as these roads although very quiet can be quite fast). The cottage itself was very nice with its old farmhouse feel and character and everything we needed really. The home cinema was excellent whether it was my wife and I relaxing with a movie or my 20+ year olds who joined us later in the week with so many pics to chose from.
