Summary: I've got to break this rating into two categories: the property and the property owner. First, the flat was in the perfect location, right inside the walled city next to the happening Place Crillon. You open the green door of this 200+ year old building, climb the winding stairs to the top floor, then enter a flat with a tall ceiling, and double windows that open onto a charming street that's full of life during the day, and quiet at night. The bathroom shower is strong and instantly hot (better than our shower pressure in Santa Cruz!) and the kitchenette has every convenience if you're in a cooking mood. When you climb to your loft bed, you're treated with a super comfortable mattress. For the price point, you will not find a better accommodation offering the ambiance, comfort and convenience. Now to the host. Alain is the absolute best. His correspondence prior to my arrival was warm and welcoming (and hilarious!). When I did finally arrive, Alain was at the train station waiting for me, and provided front door service. Here's where he goes above and beyond - my first day there, believe it or not, I lost my wallet. After frantically searching through all my things, I called Alain to ask if maybe I left the wallet in his car. After searching he broke the bad news that it wasn't there. Then, he offered to loan me some money until my husband wired the cash. Me, a perfect stranger! Fortunately, I didn't need to take him up on his offer and all turned out fine. His gesture was just a testament to his character. Alain is a great guy, and his flat is wonderful. I can't wait to come back (and hold on to my friggin' wallet next time.) Merci mille fois Alain - tu es "Super Cool."

Summary: This lovely little studio was exactly what I wanted for my trip to Avignon. I stayed 11 nights. The location was great, there were tons of little shops/bakeries/restaurants, and it was very close to the Palais des Papes, which has an amazing view from the (free!) garden up the steps. The studio was very well equipped for me to cook and live in. There's an evening market that happens on Mondays from 5pm-7pm in the parking lot right outside the walls - maybe a 5 minute walk - and it was great to be able to pop over and grab amazing fresh produce to cook with. The bed was very comfortable, the shower was great, the wifi and television worked perfectly, and everything was very clean when I arrived. Absolutely worth mentioning as well, is how lovely Alain is. His English is great, and he was extremely helpful, friendly, and 100% available when I needed him. He picked me up from the TGV station and made sure I had all the information I needed about the studio before leaving, as well as giving me some great local tips on where to eat and what to see. I was a woman travelling alone, and Alain made me feel very safe and comfortable in a city that was strange at first, but by the end felt like home. I hope to come back to Avignon in the future, and I absolutely would stay here again. Alain, thank you again for everything, I hope to meet you somewhere in the world again someday. :)

Summary: The location was wonderful - inside the walls of the old city. It was an easy walk to anywhere within the walled city and to the Central Train Station. I did day trips to Nimes and Arles, both wonderful cities. A half day tour to Orange and wine tasting at a Chateauneuf-du-Pape winery was also very good. The studio was clean, well equipped, and pleasant. I enjoyed climbing the ladder to the comfortable bed in the loft. The loft might be a problem if you are tall because it doesn't leave too much clearance below. I'm only 5'8" so it wasn't a problem at all. There is room in the loft to sit up, in bed, if you want to read or play on a laptop. The price was very reasonable for my week stay. Alain was the nicest man. He picked me up at the TGV train station since my train was coming in late at night. He also delivered me back to the train station for my departure. He provided good communications before and during my stay. The Wi-Fi worked fine. The kitchenette was more than adequate but I didn't attempt to cook any fancy meals. Not sure about the listing of a dining area-must mean the couch/coffee table. Even though the listing includes a washer there is not one in the studio or building. I asked and it is down the street. So I guess it means there is one close by. My only complaint is that the shower is very small and the shower curtain has a tendency to stick to you as you are showering. Summary: We spent a week's holiday in the apartment of Mr. Guibbaud and is very easy to write about him: absolutely good and proper. There is a nice place in Avignon from the perfect location 5 minutes walk of the Palace of the Popes, 3 minutes from the free parking outside the city walls near the river. Everything is as described by Alain so my advice is to go to him, in a small town in the middle of a series of Provencal villages to visit for a holiday to remember. We will definitely return.
