The enclosed ground floor A/C bedroom contrasts in every respect with the open upstairs accommodation featuring pure Balinese unobstructed clear views down to the assure Indian Ocean over blinding emerald green rice fields bounding the exotic Hindu Temple Puri Mastima. The room's second floor height assures one of the best views on Bali and makes it a wonderfully private nest hidden up in the tops of the surrounding coconut and fig palms.
There is so much to do and see in and around Villa Chandra ranging from massages (reflexology to full-body) including day fishing trips with the local fishermen, private yoga and tai chi lessons and many, many things in between that we have produced several brochures to help our guests plan their stay in advance. A second brochure covers a range of Island tours with pricing, distances and short descriptions of the tours and the Balinese drivers that we have cleared to work with our guests for their English abilities and knowledge. Both of these brochures are only available after you have booked and your email address is accessible to us.

Summary: The House is nice, but not a lucury Villa at all. First the positive points . The host , Petra, is very nice, and the view from the top floor is very nice. Bad are the following points: 1. You are not alone on the property. The host will live 1meter away from your Pool. We could not enjoy the pool at all. The beach is very dirty and the sea is dangerous there. You can not swim there either. 2. In the house has no Kirchen. The kitchen is in the second house beside. So you can not cook in the house 3. There is no TV in the house. So you can not even watch some Videos. 4. There are a lot of geckos, spiders etc in the house. We hat to look each time when we entered a room. Very bad feeling. 5. The house is the middle of nowhere. As soon as it gets dark you can do nothing. To reach the house you need a scooter and to drive through a joungle. 6. There are a lot of cocks around. They start screaming 05.00 in the morning. And i am Not speaking about only one of them. We could not sleep one day longer than 05.00. 7. There are 3 dogs and min. 5 cats on the property. Their favorite place is the pool area. They have been all the time on the poolchair. I dont want to share in this case. This is ugly. 8. The host is running a kind of a Restaurant in the house. As described betören you have to eat there because there was no other possibility. Food was good but approx. double expensive as outside. We left 2 days earlier than booked. We did not get a refund. We hat nicer locations for half the price in Bali. I would not stay there again.

Summary: A beautiful villa, very comfortable and relaxed, open style and a very clever design. It is very 'in touch' with the outside which suited us perfectly. The interior is so Balinese and with a 'pond' running round the back of the bed upstairs and a lot of sound of running water! You overlook rice paddies which is very absorbing and to watch them being worked on. Ketut was the amost amazing cook and served very delicious local food which we really enjoyed and Alit and Madek were a delight too, so friendly and helpful. One point that we discussed with Petra and Mark that there is not a kitchen in the villa but they explained the reasons why (health and safety) but being very English we like to make a tea sometimes but there is always hot water from the main kitchen whenever. Petra and Mark live next door and always so helpful and very informative about the area and letting us know when a ceremony was on or taking us to a bar to watch the World Cup Football! Thank you all, we hope to return Sarah and Keith

Summary: We had a wonderful time in this villa which was completed by our host and hostess. The peaceful surrounding of the ricefields and being so close to an authentic village made us feel a part of Bali. The invitation to a wedding ceremony was an unexpected and exceptional experience we thank Alec for this. Our visit to the local market with our host, who did the daily shopping, was something never to forget, once in Holland we will never visit our market as we did before. Our cook Ketut surprised us every day with the special Balinese meals, breakfast, lunch and diner were a surprise all the time. Summary: Dear Mark and Petra, Dennis and I had the most wonderful week at Villa Chandra. We both arrived a little under the weather, and this was the perfect "medicine" for us. We rarely left the property as it was so nice to just relax laying by the pool, swimming, reading, watching the ships go by, listening to the ocean waves crash upon the shore, watching the locals work in the rice fields, just being totally content. Thank you for your hospitality as well. You are both so friendly and Dennis and I enjoyed the times we were able to chat with you. Your staff is great!! Ketut is an amazing cook, and I am sure that I would have put on a few pounds if my ailing stomach would have cooperated. The men taking care of the pool and grounds were friendly and always smiling, as was the cleaning girl. And the house... well, it was beautiful and gave us the "true" Bali experience. The grounds and landscaping are beyond gorgeous! LIke a paradise!! I was sad to leave Villa Chandra. If I have one regret, it's that I couldn't stay longer (and make it to the beach!!) Summary: Let me start by apologizing for submitting this review so long after our vacation to this beautiful place. Mark and Petra, you two couldn't have treated us better and we truly appreciate you making our trip to Bali so memorable. This was the first place we stayed on our first time to Bali and it was perfect. Their driver picked us up from the airport, and was happy to answer any questions we had during the ride back to the villa. He even offered to pull over at a local fruit stand to let us try a new tropical treat. We arrived at the villa just after sunset and were greeted as we got out of the car. The outdoor table was already set for our first dinner and we were shown to our room and given a brief description of our stay before settling in. Ketut cooked us one of the best meals we've ever had, while overlooking a gorgeous rice field with the beach just beyond it. This place was not among a busy, tourist filled town, but a true authentic village. It was quiet, relaxing, and gorgeous yet still had plenty of things to do within walking distance. Every morning and night Mark and Petra would ask us if we had any questions about the village (or anything for that matter.) They have lived there for quite some time and are extremely knowledgeable. Mark even took us to a beautiful temple about an hour from the villa, showed us the best places to stop for a bite, and even told us the best areas to visit for the rest of our vacation as we moved around the island. The guest house that we stayed in was perfect. While we were there, we happened to be the only 2 people staying in our particular house (there are 2 on the property.) There is a bedroom downstairs, and one upstairs that is open with bamboo roll down shades giving plenty if privacy to the room. Breathtaking view. There is a large private balcony upstairs looking over the entire rice field, temple, part of the village, and onto the ocean. I can't begin to tell you how many pictures we took from this area. We stayed 2 nights in this room and one in the downstairs room. Each bedroom has its own bathroom that was spacious and well decorated. The upstairs shower has a window looking into the foliage. I recommend walking a few minutes down the beach to Charlie's Chocolate Factory. This was another great recommendation given to us by Mark and Petra. Get the cold chocolate drink. Overall, I would stay here again no questions asked, and I would recommend it to anyone traveling to Bali. Thank you again

You went out of your way to make our stay special! The villa is as private as you want it to be! Your staff is second to none....thank you to Kuduk (hopefully I spelled this correctly!) for cooking such wonderful meals....it was so much easier than having to buy your own groceries and then having it cooked! Thank you to Alit and his wife...they are both such an asset and we enjoyed getting to know them! I would definitely recommend this villa to anyone! We certainly enjoyed staying here and enjoyed the peace and quiet! We wish you all the best!

Summary: Having been to Bali numerous times we decided we needed something more authentic and what a great choice this was. This is not your average type of tourist trap its the real deal with the real food with real people in the real Bali. Imagine waking up in the morning looking out of your bedroom to rice paddies a temple and the ocean. Then having your breakfast made by local village staff with a genuine smiles. Make sure you get them to cook for you, the food was fresh fresh fresh and authentic. Ask and you shall receive,these people go out of their way to make your stay memorable, we were even taken to the markets with them an what an experience that was.We also seen a local celebration. My son loved this place and wasn't bored once there is so much to see and do very close to this place and its not full of tourists. The property is quiet , peaceful and luxurious. We used the driver on a few occasions ,I cant remember the price but it was super cheap compared to the last time in Bali and we went to some places the tourists do go to. The owner picked us up at the airport and boy is this guy knowledgeable and has a love for Bali and the local people.It made the rest of the holiday easy as he told us what to avoid and made recommendations to us.Everyone is friendly helpful without being intrusive and the locals are not pushy I could go on and on but I'll let the fact that we made another booking for later this year tell you that this place is very very good.
