Positive: This was one of the most beautiful places we've ever stayed. The views, the room, the breakfast....amazing. Plus, the host could not have treated us better! He sat and shared a bottle of wine at sunset. The next day, our train travel was cancelled due to a strike and he drove us over an hour to the bus station. Unbelievable!

Negative: Nothing!

Summary: Martin is a gem. He's chosen the most beautiful spot to host unforgettable moments.

Positive: This is an absolutely superb spot overlooking the Douro! It is perfectly secluded and quiet. The host looked after us very well and made us feel welcome and at home. We highly recommend this destination.

Positive: Everything at this property is wonderful. The views are amazing and the host makes you feel like family. The breakfast is expansive and will fill you up for hours. Can’t find anything wrong with this beautiful place.

Positive: I can’t say enough about our stay here. The area is beautiful, the room was perfect (that view!), and most importantly, Maarten is the BEST host. Breakfast was fantastic, his wine is excellent, and we thoroughly enjoyed the vineyard tour. A must do! We spent two nights here (only one would be a mistake!). We made quick friends with other guests, and spent much of our time enjoying wine and laughing with them and Maarten. Maarten also has wonderful suggestions for meals, wine tours, and gave us a great tip for a pit stop during our drive to Porto following our stay. Do NOT miss the opportunity to stay here!

Negative: The drive up is a bit winding and narrow, but after a couple of treks up and down, it truly was nothing to be concerned about.

Summary: Staying at Maarten’s was a major highlight of our entire trip!
