The house is built on one level and has a large living room with an open kitchen with bar, an open fireplace and large windows with breathtaking views of the high mountain peaks; 3 double bedrooms, two of which have a normal double bed and a high bed; 2 full bathrooms; and a120m2 covered terrace with a fireplace/barbecue, a ping pong table and views of the Extremadura plains.
The house is situated on a 30.000m2 property in the middle of nature, with olive trees, fig trees, oaks, chestnut trees, and has a subtropical garden right around it with a pool of 11x4 m. at a 20 m. distance from the terrace. It is open from the end of May until late September, and covered with a deck the remainder of the year.
The house runs on solar energy with the support of a generator which only needs to be used in case of several cloudy days in a row or with groups of more than 4 guests during the autumn or winter, when days are short. Guests receive instructions on arrival on how to manage the electricity, which is very simple, and there is always someone close-by to help if necessary.

Summary: We’ve been twice now and can’t wait to visit again. The view alone is worth it but the house is stunning and the mountains with rivers to swim in are as beautiful as anything in Spain. Hans and Viveca are adorable hosts and you can really tell how much love they have put into building this house. It’s a very very special place.

Summary: Fabulous home, brilliant modern architecture and lovely gardens. Really enjoyed the peaceful location with the sound of distant goat bells, beautiful scenery, stunning views across the valley and back up to the mountains and excellent facilities including essential swimming pool.

Summary: The house is more beautiful than the pictures show. It is a peaceful and quiet location with stunning views of the valleys and the mountains. (you have to like being in a remote place).The owners are very kind and helpfull.

Summary: Our expectations of the house were quite high when we arrived because of the promising photos on the VRBO site. Moreover, we are lovers of Spain and Extremadura in particular. So it was with confidence that we traveled to Vilanueva de la Vera. However, it was even better than we expected. After a slightly challenging drive along a dirt road (of about 13 minutes) we arrived at the stunning modernist one-story villa en were cordially welcomed by the host. He showed us around en informed us of the ins and outs of staying in a mansion powered by sunlight and completely surrounded by nature. The house is tastefully furnished, spacious and very comfortable without tending towards blunt luxury. The way we like it. The bedrooms and bathrooms are simply convenient with good beds and ample room. Eveything is in great working order except for the gas stove which proved to be a little reluctant in lighting it. The kitchen is great, by the way, well equipped. Being an amateur cook, I spent quite some time in it en enjoyed every minute. Then, there's the garden en the swimming pool (a very friendly local gentleman, Andres, comes to clean it every other day). Only superlatives suffice. Surrounded by Mediterranean and subtropical vegetation, spending time with your family by the pool is more than enjoyable. We are naturalists and had the pleasure of observing a Spanish imperial eagle soaring above the house. The location of the house, surrounded by woodland is magnificent.

Summary: We had a brilliant time. The house is located in a magnificent mountain setting and we were able to enjoy the view from the veranda and swimming pool. We enjoyed visiting the local villages, which have great character - if we could drag ourselves away from the house and pool that is. Viveca and Hans were always contactable if we needed anything. A great experience and we would love to stay again.

Summary: The design of this house is intriguing and beautiful, and this time of the year the gardens are in full bloom - just amazing. With warm weather we explored the footpath through the forest, that eventually turns into a track through the jungle and brings you in 20 minutes to a gorgeous spot in the Garganta where you can swim - it was our own private swimming pool amidst nature. Viveca has been kind and took care to make our stay great!

Summary: Our family of 4 (2ad & 2 teens), had the best stay in the house. The rooms were great and all very spacious, however, we did spend most of our time at the covered patio in the shaddow during siesta, and then at the pool which was nice cool, and long enough to do actual laps. The kitchen was well assorted and the thought, that everything worked on solarenergie, was nice. The owners are so nice and helpfull and not longer away than a wathsapp text. We went for walks in the area, down to the river and rockpools and went grocery shopping at Dia, who had everything we needed. The cafe "Viva la Pepa" in the city has great bread for breakfast and was very helpfull when our lost suitcase got delivered. This stay has been great for destressing and relaxing, and we hope some day to be able to go back. BR Casper & Latifa

Summary: We have stayed in many Spanish casas, but never one with so much to offer in such a lovely location with the added bonus of a lovely swimming pool. The booking arrangements were impressive, which gave us confidence. The casa is set in a lovely, fairly remote location which suited us perfectly. It's like a home from home and we simply made ouirselves at home. Hans and Viveca have a vast, eclectic library, but there wasn't really time for reading! The pool is brilliant,and is well maintained by Andreas who comes every other day to clean it, check the filters, ph and chlorine levels which fills one with confidence in using it. The living area is huge, but for us the most wonderful feature was the very long, shaded terrace dotted with Hans' interesting pot plants. His hibiscus produced two beautiful flowers whilst we were there which delighted us because we had never seen one before. The lemon tree at the end of the terrace produced innumerable huge juicy lemons which wereb great for our G&Ts. There were figs on the trees at the back of the house which provided the occasional delicious dessert after lunch, fresh from the tree. The pillars supporting the terrace roof are covered with huge jasmine and bougainvillea bushes and the at the bottom of the stairs leading to the pool area there are beautiful huge clumps of lavender which attract the beautiful bee flies, butteerflies and on one occasion a cone head mantis. The local tracks and trails are fascinating and I walked most of them up to the Torre de Vigilancia and down to the new bridge at the river and beyond. All the dirt roads seem to interconnect so it's hard to get lost. The Dia supermarket in Villanueva de la Vera has everything you may need (Larios gin 11.46 Euros a litre) and even food! Viveca and Hans are polyglot, consummate hosts for whom nothing is too much trouble. We had a wonderful 31 days here and I cannot recommend it highly enough!
