Omena House | Spacious And Peaceful Retreat On Grand Traverse Bay! Private Beach Front

10 Bedroom House in Omena

This large and gracious home is one of a kind: large enough to comfortably accommodate an extended family, family reunion, or retreats and small conferences with 10 bedrooms, 3 half baths, and 5 full baths. It is a beautiful property with a private beach, breathtaking views, gracious rooms and furnishings, and lots of amenities.
We have decided to make Omena House available to share with other families for special get together. A few summer weeks are still available. Omena House is a delightful venue in all four seasons. The two fireplaces and outdoor firepit promise to ease the Autumn chill for trips to enjoy fall color and winter snow play.
Village and Regional Charm
Located in the charming village of Omena, “the bend at the first knuckle of the little finger” of Michigan’s Leelanau peninsula between Northport and Suttons Bay, this spacious and well appointed house is situated directly overlooking Omena and Grand Traverse Bays, with a secluded private beach.
Enjoy wonderful days filled with sun, swimming, boating, beachcombing for Petoskey stones, bicycling or hiking on the many back roads and dedicated trails, and spending quality time with your family and friends. From the house you will experience shimmering sunrises over the water and woods each morning and sublime evenings. When you look up you can count stars and see the Milky Way.
Within easy reach are the attractions that define the very best “up north” experience: Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore, charter fishing, casinos, excellent restaurants and bakeries (from pub fare to Zagat rated delights like Bleu and Martha’s Table). There are historical and cultural amenities including Interlochen Center for the Arts, amazing natural and human history, including the new tribal museum at Peshabestown, and several historic light houses and museums. And there are bounteous farmers markets, 20 wineries and cideries in Leelanau county alone. The Traverse City area sports 5 microbreweries, several distilleries, and there’s a “u-pick” flower garden just down the road.
You can walk to the quaint village of Omena and the Leelanau Cellars Winery and Tasting Room, gallery, general store, historical museum, post office, restaurant, and park with play equipment and wide sandy beach. The setting offers a sense of seclusion screened with trees and a vista onto protected conservancy woodlands and Omena Bay.

Summary: No air conditioning on 1st floor so our family who slept there did not sleep well our 1st night.

Summary: Overall a great place to stay with extended family for a week of summer fun and relaxation. Great location and we loved the short walk to the private beach. It was nice having so many bathrooms. The kitchen was well stocked and it was nice there was huge bookshelf with tons of books and games.A few nitpicks: the place was not super clean. The trash was literally overflowing in the rolling bins off of the garage when we got there. We had many workers in and out doing small repairs and errands while we were there- the property manager (who was extremely friendly and helpful!) tried to give us a heads-up, but not always. Would probably be better if these things could be done during a turnover day or while guests are not there. Finally, there was only AC in a few of the upstairs bedrooms. It was extremely hot in the house even with all the fans running and windows opened at night. Still very much recommend this place for large groups!

Summary: Terrific stay at Omena House. The house itself is amazing. A complete first and second story with all amenities needed. Plenty on gathering areas all around the house including an upstairs lake overlook, balcony, seating area; downstairs large sunroom, dining room; large outdoor deck, firepit, large backyard. Plenty of room for our large family of 11 adults and 10 kids age 1-12. Everything is well maintained with an extremely helpful property manager (Rink). Two blocks away is their small but fun beach. We used this a lot. Walking distance to Leelanau Winery and a restaurant. The location is very near all the other activities and wineries in Leelanah County. Overall, this was a fantastic property and we will definitely stay here again when our vacation plans bring us back to the area.

Summary: Omena House was everything we hoped it would be. Our 18 member extended family included 4 individual family groups and ranged from 8 years old to 77 years old. We had family from as far away as Switzerland, S. Carolina, Virginia, and Illinois. Omena House was roomy enough for everyone to have both wonderful group times as well as comfortable quiet space when needed.

Summary: It was a third trip to your property. We chose the property initially because of the amount of bedrooms as the grandchildren became older. As we experienced the first stay it became obvious this is a place to return to yearly. The house is large enough, furnished nicely, and "move-in" ready for our week. It is close to many places we like to visit OR simply stay put. We look forward to 2026!

Summary: We had a.Family group of 15, age ranges 2-73. Lots of space. Big yard too. This is the rare listing that actually looks nicer in person than on the web. Excellent for large group w/ plenty of dishes, towels etc, 2 kitchens, multiple common areas, a dining area large enough for group meals. Not technically on the lake but has small pvt beach and is as close to water as many that are on lake. Also public beach very short walk if you want more space.

Summary: My family and I stayed at the beautiful Omena House. The large and spacious home was well appointed and cared for. The unique layout of the home allows for large gathers as well and smaller intimate “nook” moments. You”ll see what I mean. The location is wonderful and close to all the amazing things that make the area of the country so special. I cannot recommend this home enough. 10 out of 10!

Summary: We rented Omena House for our wedding weekend and it was the perfect location for our wedding party to stay. They had the best time, and weeks later, are still talking about how much they loved their stay. Great location and the property owner was very easy to work with.

Summary: We are a group of ladies from age 40 to 78. We have been getting together since 1997 the house was just right for the 17 of us. Lots of individual and group space. Having the beach was the best. We are all avid stone hunters. The home was well supplied with everything we needed. We want to rent it again next year.
