SOL-MATE is a 3 bedroom, 3 bath home in Dauphin Island, Alabama. The home sleeps 8 comfortably and is situated directly on the Mississippi sound. The rear of the home faces the Western sunset and is only a few feet from the bay. The beautiful water and sunset views will take your breath away!
The gulf beach access is an easy and enjoyable two block walk from the house. The rear decks and dock offer unobstructed water views as far as the eye can see and spectacular sunsets. The home has a private dock with a fish cleaning station, bench, and dock ladder; and is perfect for fishing, swimming or just relaxing in the sun. SOL-MATE has extensive dock lights to attract bait fish and offers some of the best speck and white trout fishing on the Island right from the dock! Multiple outdoor entertainment areas such as full outdoor bathroom with private open air hot/cold shower, grilling area with propane grill, eating areas, gaming area, bistro lights, and outdoor large screen TV area with propane fire pit are just a few of SOL-MATE’s outdoor offerings. The laundry room is located under the house and includes a full size refrigerator.
The main floor features the living area, fully stocked kitchen, full bathroom with tub/shower combo, and bedroom with queen size bed.
The master bedroom with queen size bed, television, and private balcony overlooking the sound is upstairs. A full bathroom with tiled walk-in shower and a bedroom with 2 full size beds and 1 twin bunk are also upstairs.
SOL-MATE is fully equipped with many things to make your vacation more enjoyable. Extensive kitchen supplies with extras such as coffee maker, crock pot, blender, and lobster pot are provided. There is a large selection of DVDs, and a library of adult and children’s books. Beach towels are provided, as well as all bed and bath linens. A corn hole game set and tiki toss game are located outside.
SOL-MATE is lovingly cared for. Numerous upgrades have taken place in recent years and more are scheduled in the near future. Improvements are constantly made with the enjoyment of guests as our top priority. Many guests have become part of our SOL-MATE family and return each year to be surprised by a new feature or upgrade.
There is a minimum rental of 3 nights during the year with the exception of a 1 week minimum stay during summer months. All returning guests receive a 10% discount off of rental amounts.
SOL-MATE has a strict NO PET pet policy. Even though we love our pets, there is an absence of areas that are suitable for their safety and enjoyment. We also keep our guests with severe pet allergies in mind.
Use of the boat lift is NOT included in rental.
Smoking is only permitted outside at SOL-MATE.
NO FIREWORKS or fires are permitted on the property at any time.

Summary: The house is in need of repairs. The floor slopes in the kitchen area and hall. Pillows are torn on the couch. The coffee maker didn’t work. The deck lights didn’t work. The grill was too nasty to cook on. The space between the deck board on the dock have too much space. Bad for kids or could cause some one to fall and twist ankle.water to fish cleaning station didn’t work. House was not very clean.Vent in bathroom is nasty. There was garbage in cans in laundry room. We couldn’t get the hot water to work in the kitchen. Weak boards on back porch. I expected better for what I paid. I sent email to let her know about coffee maker. Reply was she try to get one out there. That was our first night. It never came so I went and bought me . On a positive note, the fishing wasn’t bad.

Summary: We enjoyed our stay, beds were not comfortable. Ladder was broken when we arrived, we let owner know but received no info back regarding it being fixed, we were hoping to be able to jump in water at the house but were unable to. Otherwise everything was as expected.

Summary: Pros: Great views, great location. Whoever they had work on the dock ladder and screwed down the deck boards that were loose. Interior space was enough for 8 people to comfortably hangout and relax if weather is bad. Exterior space had a lot to offer but needs tlc. See below. Cons: Place can use a little work. Dock deck boards are so far spaced out even adult feet can fit in them. Throughout the upper and lower decks nails came loose and some stuck out all the way. I asked for a hammer from the maintenance man and pounded down nails that we thought could cut feet. Upper deck spindles are way too far spaced. 6 inches or more. Small kid could fall through.

Summary: This property is great! All amenities that were listed for property were available we didn’t have any problems during our stay. There are a few improvements we believe need to be made some burners on grill did not work, lots of deck screws/nails were coming up on back porch, couple broken pieces of deck rails on property have fallen off, the dock has a lot of uneven boards causing tripping or constantly having to watch where you step. All of these things are pretty minor and didn’t sway us from not staying there again as we have booked Sol-Mate again for next year!!! The sun sets from the back of property are breathtaking. We got to do lots of fishing off the dock this is a great place to stay for relaxing and to unwind!!

Summary: This property is very nice and in a quiet location. The cleaning crew missed the outside bathroom area completely also no trash bags were left. Other than that the place was awesome.

Summary: Rented 3rd week of May and will return. Have been to many places down along the bay and gulf area over last several years and this is by far our favorite. Everything is right there for relaxing from the hustle and bustle of life and spending good times with friends.
