Positive: The guest house is not luxurious, but it is immaculate, comfortable, and clean. It offers everything one needs for a stay in Phonsavan. My reason for visiting Phonsavan was to see the Plain of Jars, and I could not have done so in the same way without Abay. He is the best host one could hope for, and together with his brother, Mr. Suy, they made the visit truly unforgettable. It is important to keep in mind where Phonsavan is, its economic reality, and its cultural richness. Within this context, Sipanaya Guest House surpasses all the so-called hotels in town. I did not have breakfast at the guest house because I visited the market early each morning and ate there. The market is well worth seeing: it reminds us of the value of food, freshness, order, and community. Thank you, Abay, for organising such a wonderful stay and for making my visit to the Plain of Jars so memorable.

Positive: Quiet, very convenient location. Abay was a very helpful, friendly and welcoming host who arranged two excellent guided tours for us to make the most of our 1.5 day visit to Phonsovan. Although Abay was away at the time of our stay, he was very responsive by email in helping to arrange everything. Upstairs room was spacious and comfortable with nice views towards mountains at the end of the building. Very nice breakfast in adjoining dining room building.

Negative: Hot water system was a bit temperamental but we managed ok.

Summary: Excellent value for money guesthouse in quiet location & short walking distance to main town area. Clean and comfort

Positive: This property has gone well over our expectations. The place is clean, the rooms are very spacious, people are courtesy and kind. The owner speaks a very good English. They serve a tasty cooked breakfast which varies from Lao dishes to the most continental. The main street is just few minutes walking distance

Positive: Fairly big guesthouse in a bit isolated place, one needs to walk few minutes across empty field to the main street with shops and restaurants (may be 300-400m?). Rooms are clean and reasonably comfortable, due to isolation it is a quiet place, no traffic. WiFi was OK. Owner and staff are very friendly and helpful, speak good English. They picked me up from bus station (few km away) even if my van from Luang Prabang was late by 4 hours (side observation - take train or plane, do not travel by bus or van in Laos, roads are simply terrible comparing to any other place I have seen in the world!). Owner organized for me tour to the Plain of Jars with hotel car and guide, taxi to the airport, some help with finding pharmacy, everything I needed.

Negative: I had an impression that hotel is cheap comparing to its quality but side services (excursions, hotel restaurant) are bit pricey comparing to Laos standards and other options (I tend to eat street food, so this is my low benchmark point...). On the other hand, excursion to Jars was for me only with a comfortable big car and very friendly guide, breakfast was not that cheap but very big, so I wasn't disappointed, every guest can decide for yourself if to use their services or go into more complications searching for something else.

Positive: The guesthouse is in a great location, right near to the town but also with lovely views of the countryside. The room was spacious, well equipped, and clean. The shower was hot, and the room was cool with just the fan, although there was ac as well. We spent 4 nights here and enjoyed it. The staff and owner, Abay, were really helpful, especially with transport. We really enjoyed our trips with Souk, the tour guide. We did a day trip to the main sights, then a 2 day trek to stay at a Hmong village near site 52 (plain of jars), this was an amazing trip and fascinating to learn more about the local culture and customs as well as the jars. I would very much recommend staying here and taking at least one of the tours on offer.

Positive: Short walk to Phonsavan. Friendly staff, free pick up from airport. Cheap hotel with facilities adequate for the price

Negative: Check out the prices for day tours in Phonsavan as well as those offered by the hotel. We had an amazing private day tour that was quite a lot cheaper than was offered from the hotel. It depends on how many people are booked in a group as to the price.

Negative: No fridge in the rooms. I hired a scooter through the hotel and it was siphoned of all its fuel just before I got it. Siphon hose was under the scooter seat stilling smelling of petrol
