Positive: The homestay consists of two huts that share a separately located bathroom and toilet, following Indonesian standards. The kitchen (also Indonesian standard) is available for use, which we gladly took advantage of. We stayed in the smaller hut at first, but after one night, we moved to the larger/front/more expensive hut because we found some signs of rats—likely due to gaps in the wooden ceiling of the smaller hut. The larger hut was clean and without any further issues. Mona, a staff member at the homestay, was very kind and attentive and prepared a delicious breakfast. The location is relatively central, and scooters are available for rent.

Positive: The staff (Juli) was exceptionally polite, friendly, and helpful. She assisted us in organizing everything and was always available with advice. Location: it’s quiet, located next to a police station, and very close to the army dock (beach facilities).

Summary: The staff in person of Juli makes that homestay exceptional.

Positive: I enjoyed everything about my stay. Keep in mind when you book that this is a Homestay. The room (actually stayed in Jabu 2) was spacious, clean and the bed was comfy. The aircon worked well, the breakfast was very yummy and the owners/staff are incredibly helpful and wonderful.

Negative: Located next to a patrol station where they like to play quite loud sometimes. While no problem for me, the facilities are basic, meaning bucket showers and toilets, just fyi.

Positive: We actually stayed in the hut which is listed as Sinuan homestay - Jabu 02 on booking.com. We had originally booked the one listed as Sinuan homestay as the location on booking.com looked better. However, booking.com has the locations wrong. Both huts are on the same property - in the location of Sinuan homestay. Jabu 02 hut is slightly bigger and has more room to move around the bed. It also has chairs on the balcony/deck and a rack to hang clothes on. These are lacking in room 01. The room and bathroom were very clean and the aircon was incredibly strong, therefore comfortable for sleeping. There was only a blanket though, so it's wise to bring a sheet. Towels are provided and there is a decent mirror in the room, although you have to sit and bend a little to use it. Also, bring something that is easy to slip on for walking to the bathroom - a traditional Indonesian mandi (with plenty of hooks for your things!). Flip flops/sandals are useful too. The shower hose was broken and not working when we stayed, but the mandi was refreshing and much cleaner than you might expect. The host was incredibly friendly and helpful; she also found us transport to visit outlying islands. There is a laundry service that is good value for money. Breakfast is either instant noodles or fried rice - basic, but tasty and presented beautifully. The hosts really do value service and try very hard to make your stay enjoyable. It was lovely to sit out on the deck in the evening - I just wish there was a sea view! The internet worked well in the room, a little less well on the deck.

Negative: Do remember that this is basic accommodation and then you will not be disappointed. Overall the cleanliness meant that this place was a winner for me - I spent a lot more money later on my trip on rooms and bathrooms that were far dirtier. Another traveler mentioned the dogs - yes, they did bark and follow me too. It was a bit unsettling, but their owner quickly calmed the dogs. I always felt that they were just doing their jobs as guard dogs! There is food nearby for dinner, but not lunch - we enjoyed the Sunset Bistro the best, Cafe Boswezend was also decent. The biggest irritant for me was the way that booking.com misrepresents the homestay's location on the map!

Summary: Lovely, peaceful stay. Very friendly host.

Positive: Very nice little bungalow next to the sea. Clean and a good price. Julia is very friendly and helpful. There is a little kitchen, they rent motorbikes and there is a laundry service.
