This is a perfect place for solo travelers who want to hike daily—there are countless trails and mountains right at your doorstep. That said, be prepared for a steep climb to get here. It's a bit of a workout, but absolutely worth it for the views and the peaceful, authentic atmosphere. Pro tip: don’t bring a trolley bag like I did! Bring a backpack instead—it’s clearly stated in the booking info (which I missed), and it makes the climb much more manageable. I’ll definitely be coming back in the future. Highly recommended for anyone seeking nature, solitude, and authentic Japanese hospitality.

Positive: Beautiful retreat in a beautful location. Very thoughtful meals and dinner. The japanese option was very authentic.

Negative: The rain, but that is not the fault of the lodge

Positive: Had an amazing 2 night stay here and it is clearly a very popular spot for foreign tourists. From here there are plenty of walks to go around: from the nearby shrine, to the more challenging mount Odake. The bathroom is shared: when you arrive you can choose an available 1 hour slot to use in private (there is also a separate shower room available if you do not wish to use the bathtub). Do recommend getting the dinner - Japanese style with lots of different dishes. Breakfast is also available in both Western or Japanese style. Would definitely stay again if ever back in the area
