Positive: This lodge is an absolute delight, set in a peaceful and scenic location with beautiful views and a spacious, well-designed garden that is carefully maintained. The swimming pool is large, inviting, and impeccably clean—just like the rest of the property. The staff are outstanding: friendly, polite, and always ready to assist. I was especially impressed by their thoughtfulness; when we checked out, I discovered they had followed my instructions for my diabetic needs to the letter, keeping my insulin in the fridge and the ice packs in the freezer. The meals were freshly cooked, all good, a few delicious.

Positive: Shimoni Reef Lodge is in the perfect location for water activities, being right on Shimoni's coast. We had hot water, a clean and spacious room, comfortable beds, and housekeeping thoroughly cleaned the room every day. Samson in particular was very attentive, and we appreciated him very much!

Negative: It was unclear (in fact, I don't think it was at all stated) when booking online that the triple room we had booked shared a living space with two other rooms, but had a private bathroom. We, fortunately, were upgraded on arrival to a cottage of our own. However, the hotel was completely unaware of our booking when we arrived. Our new room didn't have a lock. The food was ok (the chicken curry was particularly good), but very overpriced for its quality. The exterior of our cottage had rubble and an old blanket lying around, which was somewhat unsightly.

Positive: Amazing place! We even got a room upgrade: we booked the cottage and we were offered to go to Hemingways suite which was absolutely fantastic, with a private pool on the rooftop. The pools, both the private and the shared ones, were clean and nice. The staff is very kind and always available: they can recommend good and convenient options for visiting the marine national park. The lodge is on a beach with mangroves: don't expect to chill on the white sand of Diani, it's completely a different environment, with mangrove ecosystems and lot of conservation efforts. The food was also good. We ate abundantly at dinner and breakfast, and the staff was available to satisfy our requests and exigencies. The restaurant on the terrace, with sofa, and lot of books, makes it a perfect place to chill and relax. You can reach the KWS office (to take the boat for the marine park with a 15-minutes walk through Shimoni Village, which is small but super characteristic. We highly suggest to visit it for a very local experience. The Shimoni Slaves Caves are less than 10 minutes walking. Strongly recommended and thanks a lot for such nice hospitality.

Negative: Nothing! Maybe having something to hang the towels in the bathroom could increase the value of the room.

Positive: We stayed here for our honeymoon. The location is absolutely amazing - best sunset from the restaurant deck. The pool was also a highlight. Comfortable rooms. The food was good, although it would have been nice to have some fresh fish (it was all frozen), even if it meant a smaller menu to choose from. They also organised all of our diving with Pilli-Pipa who were incredibly professional. Highly recommend any snorkelling/diving trip with them!

Negative: It would have been nice to have a kettle with tea and coffee in the room. We had to request extra water as they only provide 500ml per person per day. The place lacked a manager/owner presence. It would have been nice to get more information about the area and we had a couple of requests/questions which the staff couldn’t answer.
