Positive: Location was good , breakfast was really nice , comfortable bed

Negative: We had lights working in the room but no power to any sockets , so couldn’t get a drink or charge phones or put the television on, there is no staff after 9pm which we did know so we couldn’t move to a room that had power , would have liked a partial refund got this

Positive: We stayed in the honeymoon suite. The bath was green in the bottom. Handle missing on bedside table. Unlock able bathroom door. Hinge on main door into the room was hanging off. Paint peeling off bathroom ceiling. Window frames in need of repair. Lack of tea bags and milk. Conservatory drapes were full of flies

Positive: The location was ideal for our visit to the area.

Negative: I visited Sheene Mill several times, going back about 10 years ago and I remember the property and grounds were always kept to a high standard. Unfortunately I personally found it to be tired and in need of refurbishment. Whilst our bedroom was clean some light switches and bulbs didn't work and the milk sachets weren't replenished for our second night. There was a variety of cooked breakfasts but no continental option. Sheene Mill is also set up as a wedding venue and they have grounds which accommodate an outside ceremony area, but I noticed that there is a massive pile of grass cuttings in the background. A few fence panels to hide it would help IMO. The lake was also in need of some dredging/cleaning up as it's a major feature. I appreciate it takes a lot of money to keep a property/venue like this up together and it can't be easy in these difficult economic times. I wish them well for the future but sadly I wont be returning.

Positive: The quality of the food was very good, both at dinner and breakfast. The staff were very friendly and helpful, taking our bags to our room and providing additional pillows. Bottled water was provided, together with tea and coffee making facilities. There was plenty of free parking.

Negative: The menu is very limited for vegetarians and there was no starter or main course for vegans, although options were provided on request. The only milk was full fat. The bed was advertised as “Large double” but seemed to us to be only a standard double. The shower had very little pressure and there was nowhere to put soap or flannels in it. As far as we could tell the only sockets available to us in the room were above the bedside table, meaning that we had to boil the kettle there rather than where the water, cup, team etc were. Paintwork on the window frame was peeling.
