Positive: Initially we booked 2 nights trough Booking.com looking at the pictures we decided to book our stay with Shakawe Lodge but when we arrived, the reception lady said that Booking.com is using the wrong pictures and we were very disappointed as the booking prices quoted was for the fisherman's cabins but the pictures used on the website was the more expensive cabins. The reception lady went out of her way to accommodate us and the manager (Brooklyn) then gave us the more expensive room at the fisherman's cabin rate to make sure we were happy. Hats off to both off them!

Positive: I had a river facing room and the view was absolutely beautiful. The food was also good and they were generous with the portions. Their bream fish was cooked to perfection. The staff were very friendly and courteous. The room was also pretty spacious.

Negative: Room facilities: the room didn’t have a tv, there were no filtered water bottles and if you wanted water you had to buy from the kitchen area which I found to be a bit odd as most of the time, hotels of that nature will provide a complementary bottle or two of water. The bed wasn’t too comfy either, I had a twin bed option but had checked in alone so the small single beds weren’t that comfortable. No walk way to the room, had to walk on the lawn and got pricked by thorns on my way to the room. The breakfast also lacked variety and you had to “order” it in advance. Their POS machine wasn’t working and I had to make the payment via EFT before I left instead of the convenience of swiping.

Positive: Location of the Lodge and the inside facilities very good. Food is delicious but expensive. The other units with a river view are extremely expensive. Personnel very friendly and helpful.

Negative: WiFi only available inside the lodge itself. Room was very bare and removed from the river front with no view.

Summary: We enjoyed the beautiful view of the Okavango River from the lodge verandas.
