Positive: Wow maybe the best accommodation i had during my Japan trip. While it is really far off from everything else, this is exactly what I wanted. Not much tourism, a calm area and a more authentic look at the Japanese "countryside". The house itself is so beautiful and we felt very comfortable in our own room. The futons were great too. I recommend trying the breakfast by the owner and also trying out the onsen nearby which is part of a hotel. We also did not have a car, but you can also reach everything easily by bus if you take your time (and if its during the daytime)
Negative: You are very close to everyone else staying there and it feels more like you are sharing a house with multiple people. Because there is only one real bathroom, it can also get a bit crowded. Also the walls are very thin (as in most Japanese houses). It was fine for us and we met some nice people, but be prepared for that

Positive: I enjoyed being in a typical Japanese home. I felt at home. I had everything I needed. I appreciated the host giving me rides to destinations a little further away. I enjoyed the location, near a little beach, near the mountains and near a onsen.
Negative: There needed to be more shower/bath facilities when more guests were staying. There was just one bathroom (2 toilets). However because the onsen was close I could bathe there.

Positive: Lovely room and most friendly and knowledgeable host, comfortable bed, nice view and pleasant Automn breeze provided a relaxed stay. Location was easy to find, and the house has a clear guesthouse sign. Very good Udon restaurant just five minutes' walk. Visiting Isamu Noguchi Garden museum and hiking to Aji Ryuozan Park which are lovely attractions in the close vicinity

Positive: This was the best place we stayed in Japan! Owner was so nice. Made amazing traditional breakfast and even offered us bikes and drive to the train station. Would defiantly come back!
