Summary: We had a fantastic week's holiday in this beautiful location. Upon arrival we were greeted by Elisabeth and Mauricio and were immediately made to feel very welcome and at home. The property is in a stunning location on a hillside, surrounded by olive groves and vineyards, and is in a great location to explore the area, being within touching distance of nearby cultural hotspots such as Pisa, San Gimignano and Siena, and also a short drive from the beaches on the Etruscan coast. The apartment was roomy and well-equipped - Just the right size for our family of 3 - with spacious bedrooms and kitchen area. The property had lots of space for our 3 year old daughter to run around in - she loved playing in the tree house and swimming in the pool. We enjoyed our stay here so much were are already thinking of a return visit next year!

Summary: The description and photos of Serra Destri on the VRBO site are accurate: the grounds are beautiful, and the house is very comfortable. Elisabeth, the owner, greeted us when we first arrived (a little later than expected), and showed us around with a smile, after which we opened a nice bottle of red wine from Montepulciano that she had generously left for us. The four of us occupied Solaia (plus an additional bedroom) on the first floor and Ornallaia, which has its own entrance on the ground floor.There was more than enough space for us, and we cooked several meals in the large and very well-equipped kitchen upstairs in Solaia, which has spectacular views of Riparbella and other hill towns in the distance. After touring in the daytime, we spent leisurely hours in the evenings on the two covered terraces outside that were reserved for us. Because we were out so much of the time, we spent only a few hours total at the good-sized pool, which was very clean and inviting, complete with lounge chairs and umbrellas. Elisabeth is knowledgeable of the region, and we visited the nearby towns and villages that she mapped out for us: Montescudaio, Bolgheri, Casale Marittimo, Bibbona and Guardistallo. (We also went swimming in the Golfo di Barratti and then "discovered" Popolonia, one of the only Etruscan sites on the coast of Tuscany--current population 23.) The location of Serra Destri is excellent for touring. Since we had a full week, we went to Volterra (well worth a visit and often overlooked on conventional itineraries), Pisa, Lucca and Florence. As for eateries near Serra Destri, two restaurants stand out: "Osteria La Vecchia Pieve" (on the way to Riparbella) and "Bar Pizzaria Piazetta di Rossetti" in Riparbella. For food shopping, Elisabeth recommended Coop and Conad in nearby Cecina, and we preferred the Coop for the variety and quality of its products. All in all, we had a memorable stay at Serra Destri and highly recommend it. We hope to stay there again, but longer next time. Thank you, Elisabeth, for your hospitality.

Summary: Serra Destri is a gorgeous place with a stunning view over the tuscan hills and the village Riparbella. We loved the quietness of Serra Destri. Our boy loved the pool and the playground and our big dogs were very welcome. Each appartment has its own pergola. The appartments are very clean. Little courtesies in your appartment will make you feel at home immediately. The kitchen is fully equiped but the stove and a washing maschine are for everybodies use in the back of the house. Elisabeth is a great host. She gives you good advice on where to hike, eat, shop, chill, swimm, sightsee. The sea as well as pitoresque italian villages and vine yards are to reach within 30 minures. Elisabeth herself sells delicious biologically grown olive oil from her own plantations. We definitely fell in love with Serra Destri and we hope to be back one day.

Summary: Serra Destri is a gorgeous place in the hilly countryside near Cecina. We loved the quietness of Serra Destri and the stunning view over the olive groves, the kids loved the pool and the playground and dogs are very welcome. Picturesque italian villages, (dog) beaches and various wine yards are to reach in less than 20 minutes. Elisabeth is a great host. She gives you good tips where to eat, shop, hike, relax, sightsee or swim. She keeps the place very clean and little courtesies in your appartment will make you feel at home. Serra Destri ist definitely a place to recommend to our friends.

Summary: Our family (two children age 3 and 6) spent a memorable week at Serra Destri late September this year. Our apartment was perfect for us. It was very clean, practical and cozy. Elisabeth and Giuseppe were very friendly and helpful and it seems that they knew everything about the area-both restaurants that they recomended were suberb tuscan cuisine! The location is very peaceful -almost in the middle of nowhere. The dirtroad from the mainroad was quite rough but safe. There were much to see and to do in the area. Cecina was dull but try Vada or any other smaller village and you won't be dissappointed. A week was too little to see it all. I would considere to go Serra Destri again. Markku Häkkinen, Finland
