Positive: Kita Cottages was a perfect place to stay in Sembalun. Centrally located to everywhere you might want to go, lovely view of the mountains from the front porch of every cottage, beautiful grounds, comfy beds, and even gave us an extra blanket when we were chilly the night before. Hot water showers in a large western style bathroom, fast wifi, and provided us with a scooter when we asked for one on arrival. We recommend walking further up the hill on the road past Kita one evening to a restaurant called Kebon Kupi for an evening cup of tea. The views are incredible.

Positive: The view of the mountains, very friendly and helpful staff, the endless farming fields, our tourguide for the sunrise hiking

Negative: The entire area has little restaurants and ATMs are 2.5km away. Due to the location a bit elevated, the prayer calls are very loud even with earplugs.

Positive: Beautiful quiet location in Sembalun with wonderful views. Really helpful and friendly hosts that serve delicious breakfast. The room was extremely clean and comfortable and I had a wonderful stay, I wish I could’ve stayed longer! Thank you for everything, 10/10 recommend 🙏

Positive: Breakfast was tasty, the actual property we stayed on was very well maintained. It is basic and a bit of a walk to any food.

Negative: The noise from the Mosques in the middle of the night was excessive. I've stayed in lots of Muslim countries over the years but have never heard anything like this before. You have 5-6 mosques in the valley all competing from 3am onwards to be the loudest, the prayers also seem to be staggered so they don't all start at the same time. The fields were also beautiful to look at but there was rubbish and plastic waste piled up in the gutters and rivers, really struggled with this.

Summary: Not worth staying over, some beautiful vistas but lots of rubbish and the mosques are loud.
