Positive: The staff is exceptional. This is our fourth visit in about 10 years and we have seen the deterioration of the hotel. The facilities need repair. The plumbing, electrical, etc. some of these things pose a danger to guests. ie a heater in the bathroom of room 115 had a part missing and exposed a sharp edge. The hot water surged in the shower daily. These are serious things.

Positive: Attractive red brick building in a town centre location. Internal decor is atmospheric with wood panelling, highly decorative ceilings and lovely antique furniture and accessories. Our stay was pleasantly memorable as the food served at Dinner and breakfast was excellent and the waiting staff were friendly.

Negative: The room and en-suite were extremely small, much smaller than anticipated (we were aware of this from their website description and reviews). The car park is also small and difficult to manoeuvre and park when the hotel is busy. The front of house staff didn’t remember us even though we had checked-in and spoken with them at Reception and one dashed down the corridor ‘challenging’ us after we returned from a walk and went to explore the hotel further looking for a guest lounge - we didn’t find a guest lounge as we swiftly returned to our room feeling unwelcome.

Positive: Staff were extremley helpful before and during the stay. Breakfast was fantastic and the interiors of the breakfast room are gorgeous, a lovely hotel to stay in and walking distance to where we needed.
