Positive: The location was perfect, not too central to hear the noise of the city but close enough for everything to be in walking distance. The bed was very comfortable. The little balcony was very cute.

Negative: The pillows were rather large. As I am fairly tall, to fit on the bed my feet had to dangle from the edge. The middle window would leak water when raining outside, and would continue leaking even after the rain stopped.

Positive: Nice quiet street. Basic equipment ( pans and pots, coffe machine, kettle, hair dryer, iron, iron table, etc.) enought for short stays. Nice heating and temperature.

Positive: The apartment was beautifully cleaned and well presented. The bed was extremely comfortable and spacious. The property is located close to a Stadtbahn and was really helpful in commuting around Essen and beyond. The neighbours are very quiet and respectful so you can ensure a great night sleep. The value of the rate per night during the European Championships was excellent.

Negative: My partner felt there should be more utensils for the kitchen. For example, there was no sieve to drain pasta or rice. The owner had assured us a table would be available on arrival, however It was offered to us after we had checked in. As nice as it was offered, it should've been there before we arrived. It was difficult to get access to the property, and we had to rely on a neighbour to let us in. If they hadn't, I don't know how we would've got in. I would definitely recommend an outdoor key code installed safe for your communal door key. For those who like to put away their clothes after arrival, there is no wardrobe. This wasn't a problem for us but it could be for other guests. We had to do some guesswork on what recycling was for what bin. It's not easy if you don't speak German There was no 'how to guide' in order to use the washing machine/dryer we had to google how to use it. Nor did we know where it was located either.
