Positive: We had a floating room. It was wonderful to be right on the water and the view was great. These are available on booking com but they book up quickly. They are expensive because there are only 8 of them. The room is clean but a dated bathroom. Clean bedding. Nice chairs out on balcony. Restaurant is reasonable too. Breakfast is ok. The pools are ok, they were being cleaned so we couldn’t use them.

Negative: Nothing but it’s expensive for what it is. Wouldn’t put young children in a floating room.

Positive: Bungalow rooms were spacious and comfortable, situated in the gardens. Clean and the hosts were very helpful in booking us trips and onward travel. We enjoyed use of the hotel pools to cool off.

Negative: Breakfast was just so so

Positive: These islands are paradise and the Sala Done Khone Hotel is the perfect place to stay. Beautiful, very intimate and beautiful pools. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Negative: The rooms have some flaws such as the wooden floor raised in some corners or the door that opens by itself if you don't have the latch on, but nothing remarkable that doesn't allow you to fully enjoy this fantastic place :)

Summary: Great experience in the middle of the Mekong with all the comforts of home

Positive: Don Khone is the place to be, if you're trying to decide. we almost stayed in Don Det, and I am so glad I spent a bit extra and came here. The village is lovely, the whole island is really nice to bike around, and Sala Done Khone is lovely. The AC works very well, the floating studios are lovely, and the breakfast is great and large. The other meals are also good at the restaurant, or there are plenty of options close by. They provide everything you need and the beds are super comfy! Thanks very much for a lovely stay. We didn't want to leave.

Negative: IF the power goes out (thunderstorm or something), don't panic-- it comes back on within an hour or so. It's not unique to here. This has happened once here and a few times elsewhere in Laos for us. I panicked the first night. LOL. It's fine.

Positive: Good location. We had a studio by the water, the place was clean and spacious. Breakfast was good. The swimming pool was nice too, despite having a greenish color which makes it look "natural"; I guess we aren't used to not having the smell of chlorine in a swimming pool

Negative: Expensive for what it is (50usd the night), with an overrated exchange rate if you pay in kip (all hostels do this though...). The tickets to get back to the mainland are also sold 20% more expensive than what was proposed down the road, beware of this.
