Positive: Very modern and clean, all on one level was good for the kids. Hot tub was great. Didn’t use log burner but would have been nice if a winter stay. Friendly hosts and nice welcome goodies, but also in no way intrusive.

Negative: Separate bath as well as shower would be good and an ensuite or separate toilet but being picky

Positive: We loved the location and cosiness of the venue. The style and set-up is great and I love how the owners transformed their stables into this very cute holiday home. The sentimental goodies and personal card from the owners was a beautiful touch and made us all very happy! We REALLY REALLY 🙏🏼 appreciated the Christmas decorations, we travelled from Dubai to spend time with family and was worried that it wouldn't feel like Christmas on Christmas day - but the tree, decorations and mince pies from the owners made it feel very festive - so THANK YOU so much for these. The kitchen and dining room area was perfect, the bedrooms were a very good size, cosy bedding and lovely lighting. The hot tub is a PLUS PLUS and it was extremely clean and well kept.

Negative: We already felt a little concerned before we arrived as we received some quite cold automated emails/messages from Sykes Holiday Cottages. I received a very lovely warm email message directly from the owners. But the one from Sykes Holiday Cottages was such a huge list of instructions and things to bring extra, I started to feel a little regretful making the booking due to this email. There was no flexibility on the check in/out when requested in advance and also no help when it came to anything with cots/beds for our toddler. But when we reached the property we realised that there was sofa bed in the living room and was able to use the bedding from the sofa bed for our son. I wish I had messaged the owner directly and not through booking.com as the responses were all automated. There was one loo roll and no bathroom amenities, when paying London prices for a stay in the north of England - it felt very unfair that we had to make a couple of trips to the shops to get more things such as garbage bags, extra wood, shampoo, shower gel. We also didn't appreciate the sticky notes of messages to not adjust the heating - we had a 18month old toddler and needed to warm up. However, we can understand why the owners need to do this but maybe there is another way or better way to communicate this.

Summary: We thoroughly enjoyed the stay overall and really appreciated festive gestures from the owners! :)
