Positive: It was a wonderful time there! The stuff was so friendly, we felt so wellcomed. The place is both, ecofriendly and luxurious, very beautiful designed!
Negative: Nothing all good! You just have to accept the govermental rules and fees for the national-park, which are equal to any resort in the park.

Positive: This is a relatively new yet traditional and eco-minded safari lodge located right on the beach, next to the picturesque village of Saadani. I stayed for one night to experience a game drive, and I truly regret not booking two or three more nights. As I learned, the lodge was created by an Afro-Greek philanthropist with a 25-year history in Saadani. Today it is run by his adopted son, Bakari, and his partner, Priscila — a wonderful and very helpful couple, just like the rest of the young and friendly staff, from the front desk to the bartender and the housekeeping team. There are currently only five airy bandas with canvas walls and makuti roofs, all featuring en-suite bathrooms, though we were told more are on the way. I had booked a small banda, but I was fortunate to be upgraded to Dr. Jane’s Banda for a small fee — the very same one where Jane Goodall stayed for a few nights last summer during what was described as her ultimate safari experience. The large restaurant includes a rooftop terrace with beautiful views of the protected park. It’s a cozy and pleasant place to relax during the day. The meals are generous, flavorful, and have a lovely Swahili touch. The swimming pool, with its small bar, is a great feature — and on the day I stayed, it was shared only with one other couple. However, the real highlight is the Indian Ocean and the endless, pristine beach. You can walk or jog along the shore during the day — though it’s better to avoid nighttime walks, as wild animals, even lions, have occasionally been spotted on the beach. The water may not be as turquoise as in Zanzibar, but swimming is still rewarding, especially during low tide, when you can walk along the shore near the local fishermen. I will definitely return with my girlfriend and friends for a longer stay. The energy of this place is incredibly relaxed. A true hidden gem, not far from Dar es Salaam.
Negative: You need to pay the Saadani National Park entrance fee twice (35 USD per person), even though SBC is located just outside the park boundaries, because you have to cross the park both on arrival and departure. However, you can take advantage of one of those days to enjoy a game drive without paying an additional entrance fee. The positive side is that you do not pay the extra TANAPA concession fees that lodges inside the park usually charge.
Summary: Great Safari Lodge and Restaurant with a Pool on the beach

Negative: Besides the really nice place, very tastefull and serene + a very friendly, service for beakfast and lunch, we were unfortunatly really dissapointed with Valentina (receptionist). The way she handled the bills was the worst we ever encounted. We travelled all over the world, but we never experienced this kind of attitude and unprofessionell handling of guests, ever. After we specifically asked what we could see on the boat safari, she told us crocodiles and hippos all over. After we arrived we got the information that in the hot season crocodiles are not to be found on the shore or even up in the water. We did not see a single one. The next nightmare was the driver she sent us for our pick up. He picked us up from Africana bus stop (we booked a Bolt from the airport to the pick up at Africana, which is 25 km away from the airport in the worst traffic jam) and Steve (driver) still wanted the full 200 $ for 1 way as he would have gotten when starting from the airport (bills attached with Africana bus stop). After finaly arriving at Sadaani Beach Camp, Steve together with Valentina added 80 $ entrance fee (incl car & driver) for the park + 80 $ at the exit, which was supposed to be included in the 200$ (total 1 transfer+ entrance fee 280 $ for 1 way!!!!). At first when we booked Sadaani Beach camp on booking.com, the price seemed reasonable, but after all the added costs and misinformation we really felt scammed. Unfortunatly for what looked like a nice place at first, turned out to be our worst nightmare. Going back to the airport, we went to the ATM to withdraw the money and explained Steve that we owe him the first transfer only fom Safari Bus Stop, not from the airport. He grabbed my husbands backpack and threatened us to call some friends. What sounds like out of a bad movie, unfortunatly happened. I usually don't write long reviews, but I felt that it is my responsibility to share this experience. Be aware, ask all kind questions beforehand. Good luck!
Summary: Be careful......

Positive: Saadani Beach Camp is a small but beautifully situated lodge right on the beach — truly a hidden gem in the middle of nature. The staff are incredibly friendly and make you feel welcome from the first moment. Both the boat safaris and game drives were perfectly organized and offered unforgettable experiences. The food was delicious and freshly prepared every day. Waking up to a breathtaking view of the ocean right from the bed was simply magical. Highly recommended for anyone looking for peace, adventure, and authentic hospitality!
Negative: Everything was perfect — there’s absolutely nothing to complain about. We loved every minute of our stay!
Summary: What a beautiful stay!
