Summary: We booked Rowan house for a family birthday celebration in August 2024. I have left the below review for Maple house which also applies to Rowan House, as we booked 2 properties due to the size of our family and it was great as they were next door to each other so we could walk across the drive way to each house and use both gardens and kitchens. From the booking process, to arrival, to checking out, everything was amazing. We booked through Bolthole retreats, and we were provided a personal log in to our booking which showed option to add extras, make payments and also came with information on the area and a welcome guide to the house. This included catering options in the area, local restaurants and pubs, walks around the area, discounts and much more, which was extremely informative. The house was right next to the Ebrington Arms pub which is a lovely village pub with great food. We had lunch there one day and used the 10% discount from Rowan House. The house was extremely clean and the perfect layout/size for our family. We bumped into the cleaners on arrival who were extremely friendly and helpful. The area is secure so great for us with children running around! We were in contact prior to arrival regarding early check in and Tim came back to us straight away and accommodated us where possible which was very helpful. Check in/out and information was provided to us a few days before and was exactly as mentioned making it very easy on arrival to find keys etc. Overall a very enjoyable stay, lovely house and beautiful area, and a very smooth booking process. We will definitely visit again.

Summary: We had a lovely stay in Rowan House with our extended family. The property is modern, comfortable and well maintained with excellent facilities and a lovely garden area.

Summary: Location perfect. Quiet village with lovely walks - ebrington arms pub serve delicious food and was handy being so close. Easy to reach larger towns and villages such as Broadway , Moreton-In-Marsh and Stow. Negatives were that the beds were very uncomfortable- have returned home and spent two days in bed with strained lower back. We also found the kitchen wasn’t well equipped. One tea towel for four days and it would have been nice to have a small essentials hamper on arrival with milk .

Summary: Clean and well equipped property in a pretty village in the north east Cotswolds where we celebrated an 80th birthday.

Summary: Excellent well appointed accommodation in a lovely quiet village in the north east Cotswolds. Unfortunately, the only minus point was that the TV had intermittent reception.

Summary: The village of Ebrington has everything needed for a quiet, away from it all stay. An award winning pub next door, veggi matters cafe/farm shop/butchers within walking distance, walks, not too far from Chipping for swings etc for children and all the shops you could want. Our stay at The Rowan. The sitting room is spacious and held all 7 of us comfortably. If you have subscriptions to Netflix or Amazon Prime do remember to bring the passcodes!! Wifi in certain areas of the house very slow/poor. A great pity that the cloakroom didn’t have a shower, this would make all the bedrooms workable. Also that there wasn’t a room that had twin beds for children in the group, doubles don’t work at all. The mattresses we found extremely uncomfortable, I slept on the floor the first night, the sofa on the second two nights. The pillows were not of good quality for the standard of the property. Invest in a good nights sleep for future occupants, would be a huge plus. We found no instructions for either the TV or boiler at point of use, a house book (which we might have missed) in a prominent place, would be really useful. To know there is only one key for multiple families using the house would be useful too. The drill being to place the only key, back in the key box every time everyone left the house. Having said the above, the rooms are all of a good size, as is the garden and makes a multi generational group (such as ours) very workable. Bolthole Retreats have been excellent throughout and very responsive and helpful whenever needed. We were impressed with their friendly and helpful approach when we contacted them (about the heating and keys) even though it was a Sunday!

Summary: A beautiful property in a nice area but the cleaning was below standards. Could use a lick of paint. Blind broken, slow draining bath, cover below stove broken .... And more, show that the property is not adequately maintained.

Summary: Lovely property in a quiet area overlooking farm land. Property was comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. There’s a lovely pub a few minutes walk and Chipping Campden, Bourton-on-the-Water and other villages are within easy reach. Garden was great for the dogs and the outdoor furniture was made use of in the dry weather. Garden is overlooked by other properties, we could hear the conversations of the house opposite which we’re having a large family gathering using the bbq and hot tub.

Summary: A perfect family house for a 70th Birthday celebratory weekend getaway in a lovely location. The local pub is within a few minutes walk from the house and the local village of Chipping Campden is just 10 mins drive. The local Vegetable Matters shop is a disappointment and so a drive to the better food shops and delis etc. is worth doing. Bedrooms in the house ideally placed and the spacious living room and kitchen were perfect for families to sit together. Wonderful break.

Summary: having spent a family xmas in Rowan House, we found it very nicely decorated for the season, furnished to a high standard, warm, with ample room for eight people and the kitchen and its contents allowed us to cook to a high standard. We enjoyed a very happy stay.
