Positive: Great rooms and facilities, the owners are very friendly and helpful. Fantastic value for money

Negative: Situated a little further outside the centre than we thought but that was our fault. No issue for us but when booking be aware there are roosters on the property that start up quite early.

Positive: A wonderful stay with the friendliest host on Cat Ba! An especially great way to escape the construction in the town at the minute - replacing the sounds of digging with farm animals in very modern accommodation in a beautiful rural setting - with a couple of restaurants and bars nearby too. Be ready with Google translate, and your host will arrange everything for you - from taxis (£9 return trip to town centre) to tours. A great base to explore from!

Positive: The accommodation was nice, and spacious — one of the better places we stayed at in Vietnam. The room had everything we needed, including a large balcony and even a window in the bathroom, which is quite rare. The shower was comfortable, and overall the place felt well-maintained. Breakfast was quick and offered a selection of around six local dishes. There was also a nice pool, although we didn’t have time to use it. From the outside and inside, the place looked pleasant, despite a few small details. It was relatively quiet, except for animals like geese and roosters.

Negative: The staff didn’t speak English at all, which made communication difficult. We asked the owner to rent a scooter for a few hours to explore the island, but he refused to rent it for less than a full day at full price — even though he had several scooters available. We ended up renting one elsewhere. It was disappointing that as guests, we didn’t feel welcome or understood. Only one young woman was very kind, though she also didn’t speak English. The view from the balcony looked directly into a neighbor’s house and garden, which wasn’t very pleasant.

Summary: Nice and well-equipped stay, but poor communication and lack of hospitality were a letdown.

Positive: Great but as a vegan, there was really only fruit. I didn’t mind this as I only have a light breakfast.

Negative: A long way from town. Taxis available but obviously an extra cost. Laundry was expensive. A lot of noise from wildfowl- earplugs needed!

Positive: Lovely staff and beautiful location, it is slightly out from the town but so easy to get to! Only a 10 minute drive and the staff always called us a taxi. Breakfast was lovely and wholesome. Everyone in the neighbourhood was so friendly and so were the dogs and chickens🥰 we really enjoyed our time here! ❤️

Positive: The interior is modern and of good standard, especially the bathroom with its modern shower cabin. The view from the upper floors is lovely. The location in the village is nice in theory but also came with downsides. The staff was a mixed bag. Two staff members were extremely helpful, willing to communicate via Google translate and very hospitable, helping out with any issues.

Negative: Unfortunately (and this is no fault of the hotel) the neighbours keep geese, dogs and chicken which are making a lot of noise most days and most nights. It was impossible to use the otherwise beautiful balcony because it was so loud. Upon request a staff member went to check on the dogs who were constantly whining and made me imagine the worst scenarios. When I checked the next day I found the dogs being held in tiny cages with no room to move whatsoever. Hearing and witnessing this level of animal abuse made me uneasy and unable to sleep at night. Even ear plugs didn't help. In addition to that, one young staff member made unnecessary noise at night (shouting while playing video games in the lobby), didn't use Google translate but only gave nods or shook his head in response to complex questions, and overall was not trained to work in hospitality. The included breakfast was not worth mentioning. No selection available, just eggs, toast and coffee. I understand that it's off season but as a paying guest you can expect more than that.

Positive: What an amazing home stay! This place is so peaceful away from the hustle and bustle. We had such a lovely time here. The pool is great and the rooms so clean and modern. We could also rent a motorbike. We were impressed at the standard of the hotel for the cost of the room. We absolutely would return! There is a lovely little bar/ restaurant down the road also called ‘binhs motorcycles’ with lovely food, cocktails and some board games. Definitely recommend this homestay!
