Positive: The host was very kind and he helped with everything, like scooter rental or where to go. He was always available. The room was clean and the pancakes for breakfast were really good too!

Positive: Nice central location on a quiet blind street, a very friendly and helpful owner Jack who kindly upgraded us to a larger suite, plenty of space and comfortable beds in the loft area, spacious bathroom and very tasty breakfast prepared by the owner every morning (you can get multiple items if you’re really hungry :) - try the banana pancakes with honey! Jack also helped us book day trips (a cruise), transfers and motorbike rentals, he’s an amazing guy.

Negative: We stayed there in the beginning of February so it can get quite cold, but our studio had 2 AC units with heating option.

Positive: This homestay is really close to the main drag, but is in a quiet side street, so you're close to the action without all the noise. The host is lovely and friendly, ready to help and answer questions. The room was clean and quiet, and the bed was very comfortable. I enjoyed my stay immensely and would go back anytime!

Negative: I have no criticisms of the homestay! Just a note to future travellers (September 2024 onwards): Cat Ba was damaged during Typhoon Yagi, and this damage has affected homes and businesses around the island, including Cat Ba town. It will take time for the locals to repair and rebuild. I recommend coming to the island and staying at Oc Homestay, but keep your expectations reasonable about the state of the town while it's rebuilding.
