The inside of the house has been renovated by refinishing the original hardwood floors on the first level and updated with new Pergo flooring in the basement. All walls and trim have been painted and every light fixture in the house has been replaced. The bathroom has been updated with a new toilet, vanity, flooring, and hardware. The basement has newly installed kitchen appliances and a laundry room with a washer and dryer. The outside has been updated with a privacy fenced-in patio area. The house offers a great covered front porch along with a street light at the house for great visibility at night time.
The house has been carefully thought out and decorated with all that you will need including a queen bed and a king-sized bed. There is a 55-inch TV in the living room with a Roku so you can login to your favorite streaming service and a 55 inch TV in the large bedroom. The TV in the larger bedroom has WatchFree by Vizio that includes a couple of local channels and a whole lot more!
This is a very old house that has a different layout and plenty of character. The floors aren't completely level and neither are the walls. We have modernized the finishes and décor but just remember, it was built in 1920. You walk into the front door into the living room and off the living room there is the small bedroom. To get to the bathroom and large bedroom, you must walk through the small bedroom. The kitchen and laundry area are in the basement which is a walkout to the back patio/yard. The ceiling at its lowest point in the basement is about 6 foot 4 inches, so this may not be the best place for really tall people. There is a quiet commercial space across the street and a railroad track on the other side of that. The commercial space is an industrial business and is very quiet and the train you probably will never hear. I've been in the house a lot and haven't heard the train while being inside and have barely/rarely hear it outside.

Summary: We were impressed from the moment we walked in the door. You could see that it was so clean and it smelled so good in there! The listing was just as decribed and shown in the photos. We had everything we needed and more during our visit! Beds were comfortable, water pressure was great, and the washer and dryer made packing easier. The area was easily accessible and it was nice and quiet as we heard no outside noise. The host had great communication and was very polite and friendly. We highly recommend this rental to everyone and would be more than happy to stay here again next time we are in town.

Summary: We took a short weekend trip to Louisville to go on some Bourbon tours and this place was perfect. Nearby to many tours and breweries. Quiet neighborhood, very clean with smart TVs, and very responsive! Would definitely stay again!

Summary: We came in at about 1am as we had a late flight. The porch light and several lights inside were on, which was thoughtful. House was super cozy and very clean! Dustin was great to work with…he made several accommodations for me about the days (I kept adding days). Location was close to everything! And neighborhood was quiet. They had complementary.beverages in the fridge and snacks. Would highly recommend River City Retreat! Thanks again, Dustin!

Summary: This is a very nice home located a short drive from the airport, University of Louisville, Churchill Downs and the State Fairgrounds. The neighborhood was very quiet while we were there. The home layout is a bit different, as the description stated. However it was very spacious with a nice kitchen and large bedrooms. Dustin was great - it snowed the day before we arrived and he shoveled out the driveway and it was in good shape when we got there. We also appreciated the chance to re-learn how to play PacMan.

Summary: This place was perfect for our little family. Me, my husband, and almost 1 year old stayed for a few nights while we were in town to race bikes. Dustin even provided us with a pack and play and high chair so we didn’t need to travel with our own. As others have said, the house lay is a little odd because you have to walk through a bedroom to get to the other bedroom and bathroom and kitchen, but it was fine for us.
