Positive: A magical place! Ideal for birders/naturalists wanting to see the endemic species of the wet, tropical highlands. Everyone who stays should go to YouTube to watch the 30-minute David Attenborough documentary on William T. Cooper (the former owner/resident of the lodge) and his bird art.
Negative: I didn’t have a problem with it, but visitors looking for a hotel or resort experience should understand that that is not what this is. It is a bedroom and bathroom with access to self-catering kitchen/dining facilities next to 160 acres of nature reserve.
Summary: Magical spot for birders and nature lovers

Positive: The Lodge is surrounded by a beautiful garden and then rainforest. We enjoyed breakfast outside with great closeup views of the Victoria’s Riflebird, Spotted Catbirds, Lewin’s Honeyeaters and King parrots. Enjoyed spotlighting and bird walks with many new ‘lifers’ collected - 38 between 4 people in 2 days. Our guide, Suraj was friendly, thoughtful and informative. He was able to help the experienced birders among us to find some of our wish lists as well as introduce a complete novice to enjoying and learning the principles of identification. Future plans for improvements can only make it even better.
Summary: A magical weekend in paradise

Positive: I came here for a nature retreat with a lot of birds and my goodness did I find it! This is a magical place - rifle birds at breakfast (literally) and wonderful walks in the neighbourhood and rainforest paths. The house itself is a piece of rainforest history as it was the house where the famous bird artist Bill Cooper lived and did his paintings. There is even a bedroom where David Attenborough used to stay.. Dan was a really great guide and took us on a nocturnal tour looking for possums and other night wildlife. It did rain a bit so bring a raincoat. The room itself was great and super quiet, and the kitchen was fantastically well equipped (this is a place where you bring your own food because there is no restaurant at the lodge or in the nearby village. But plan ahead and this will be a visit to remember.
Summary: Rainforest paradise
