Positive: The hotel is located in a beautiful landscaped garden. The restaurant faces a large pond and a lake, both framed by interesting plants and trees. We were charmed by a swan, a heron and ducks while eating a fantastic meal in the evening and thoroughly enjoyed breakfast the next morning with the same delightful view. The hotel has been decorated with many objets d'art throughout the rooms, but the result is cohesive and interesting. We came upon the swimming pool and I was cross with myself for not remembering my swimming costume because it looked gorgeous. I believe that all the rooms have been decorated individually and we were delighted with ours. It was quiet and spacious with a great bathroom. We also had a little private terrace. Parking is easy and secure.

Negative: The lighting around the bed at night could be softer with a separate control for each side, rather than the overhead spots controlled by one side of the bed. We are bedtime readers, but fall asleep at different times!

Summary: A peaceful oasis in Saintes and don't miss the restaurant because it is a wonderful experience.

Positive: Slightly quirky but really nicely done. Excellent restaurant despite a reduced menu. All the staff we met were exceptional and suffered my abysmal French with good grace. The row of Tesla chargers in the car park is an excellent bonus.

Negative: Nothing worth mentioning.

Positive: Great value. Comfortable stay. Friendly staff. The room was clean and relaxing. Although the room next door was occupied, we didn’t hear a thing. Plenty of parking and a beautiful garden. We had both breakfast and dinner and both were great. We will definitely stay here again.

Negative: One night we came back around 11 pm. For some reason the shower water was not hot but it was just once. We had plenty of hot water other times.

Summary: Great place to stay and dine.

Positive: We stayed here once before and was very impressed by the restaurant and the hotel itself. So when we had the opportunity to come back we took it. The hotel itself is nicely laid out with a great garden and pond. The staff are very relaxed and welcoming. The rooms are individually decorated. It's also close to the autoroute. We had planned to take an evening meal and it was as exceptional as before. We took it outside overlooking the duck pond. Breakfast is ordered in advance and served at your table which is a nice change from the standard buffet. It is of course a French breakfast but with little touches like freshly squeezed juice and a good supply of coffee in individual thermos flasks. If you are just looking for a quick overnight then you will be missing out by not taking your time to enjoy the food and comfort.

Negative: nothing to dislike.

Summary: A place to linger and not rush.

Positive: Very nice view, room was spacious and comfortable bed.

Negative: Did not like bathroom arrangement, with step into bathroom, also high step over bath to get into shower, dangerous, needs a hand rail. water took a long time to heat up in shower, no shower curtain. tea/coffee making facilities would be expected in a 4 star hotel.
