Positive: The hosts were incredibly friendly and accommodating - Mikela was always happy to help and was great with us and our children. The location is beautiful, and breakfast overlooking the mountains was top notch. The location is rustic - it's farm and it feels like you're staying at one, but there was no surprise there. The kids loved visiting the sheep, the short hanging bridge, and friendly dog.

Negative: The beds and pillows were a bit of a lottery - some were soft, some were hard, some were lumpy. Rancho Makena doesn't present itself as a luxury retreat, so our expectations were tempered, as should yours. Overall great value for money at a unique location.

Positive: The stuff is super friendly, the view is to die for

Negative: The bugs and the cold at night, far away from services, lack of restaurant and things to do at night. Breakfast was ok, but a bit bland in taste , maybe they are too careful with the spices

Positive: Really friendly family, beautiful view over Monteverde forrest even until pacific ocean from our room and restaurant. Great lunch, dinner and breakfast. Big green garden with flowers. Best stay in Costa Rica so far.

Positive: Very nice people run this place, super helpful in everything, it was a wonderful experience. The cabins have everything you need, they are clean.

Negative: we didnt have hot water, not sure if thats normal, or just wasnt turned on.
